Workout recap

I was supposed to run my 7 mile training run on Sun but since WI had some not so pleasent weather I had to do it last night. 7.3 miles in with 701 calories burned! Today is a strength day so I will be working on arms, back and abs.

What did you do for your Monday workout?

What are your plans for today?

    That's awesome, Stina!

I'm finally getting my lazy butt back to the gym tonight.  I need to run.  I signed up for a 5k which is in a month from today & I'm not the least bit prepared for it.

  • I like this thread!  Friends help friends stay motivated!

Mondays I go to Cardio Kick at the gym for an hour.  The room was steamy hot yesterday from the humidity, killed about 600 calories.

Tonight I 'may' rest, as I worked out the last 3 days in a row, or I may do my P90X2 Core Strength and Stability workout.  Working on my tummy and my butt for summer...

    Meddied since 6/15/13!
  • Wow I wish I could run, my knees just won't let me.  It seems that it's a great way to work out.
I did nothing yesterday, I was in such pain all over, it sucks being a woman sometimes. Not sure about today, I hope to at least get in an abs work out.

    Anniversary

  • Danser-I hear you on running.  I have run a few short races, but my body just doesn't like it much, especially as I age.  I figure CardioKick is enough high impact for this old girl!

  • my workouts have consisted of me deep-cleaning the house for this weekend.  :)  tonight I'm going walking at a park with a girlfriend, though.  it'll probably be about 2.5-2.75 miles of fast walking.  I'd like to squeeze in a 30DS today, but it may have to wait until tomorrow.

I can walk, even fast walking, but I prefer classes and non running work outs too.  My poor knees from years of dancing and knee surgery...

    Anniversary

  • Monday was lifting.  I worked on arms mostly but also a little bit of abs.

Tonight I will be running and it is supposed to be sunny.  Definitely looking forward to some sunshine.

Stina - Less than two weeks until your half, are you ready?  Have you done a half before?  I'm hoping to run a half next year, but I'm a bit nervous to actually sign up for one and not be able to finish.

I did Turbo Jam (Cardio Party) last night. It was so much fun! According to my heart rate monitor, I burned 987 calories.** I was super happy because it's a fun workout and reminds me of my dancing days. It's all 90s music in a long remix. I was sweaty, but smiling. I'll probably do this workout every day since it's so much fun. I was completely energized afterward, and oh man... do my abs feel it today.

**Your mileage may vary. I'm quite heavy, so someone who weighs 150 pounds probably won't burn quite as many calories.

Ha I am no way ready! My 7 miles was the slowest I've run in a while. I have a 9 miler on Saturday then only a few small runs before next Sat. I have no faith in doing as well as my last two halfs but I have been fighting a "virus" for 6 months now and I haven't really trained.

This will be my third. I somehow talked myself into signing up for a full in October. Yup I am cray cray!

I learned that signing yourself up is the best choice if you think you want to do one. Its a constant reminder then to get out there and run.

Yeah, I've been running pretty consistently since December, but only in the 2-3 mile range.  I'm trying to shave a couple minutes off of my 5k time (June 9th). Once that is over, I want to start adding mileage.  I've been  looking for a mid distance race for this fall, like 10k or more to keep me motivated when it gets really hot out, then a half next spring.

The 5th/3rd Riverbank Run is this weekend.  They have a 5k, 10k, and a 25k run and people come in from all over the world to run it.  I've done the 5k a couple of times, it's a fun route through downtown Grand Rapids.  Thought I'd mention it to you for something to shoot for next spring, if you're interested!  It's a great event.

Today we're going for a run and then I need to do an ab workout before dinner.  I'm hoping my neck/shoulders loosen up!

My BFF and I do a 10k every June. This will be yr 3 of it. I had to sit out last year from fracturing my foot while running my first half. I was so bumbed. Goal this year is to beat my yr one 10k time.

  • I ran last night too but I only managed 4 miles in this crazy 90 degree heat we are having - blah.  I'm doing strenght tonight too and going to body pump.

Stina - Are you doing a training group for your full or are you following an online type plan?

  • I'm so bad about posting, but health and fitness are one of my favorite topics so I thought I would join in....

I'm obsessed with barre right now ( think pilates+ballet+yoga+weights) and I took a hot barre class last night.  LOVE:)

Stina- Good luck with your training!   I'm sure you'll do great.  Just getting out there is an accomplishment and usually the crowds and excitment make for better than training times.

Radleyboo-  I've heard so many good things about the Riverbank run.  I have so many old college friends that still live in GR that run it every year.  Maybe I'll just have to make a trip to GR next year for it.

Training group. My friend and I joined a club called Pacesetters in our area. The training runs for a full that is in Sept starts May 26th. We are going to join them on Sat mornings and then keep going the weeks after their marathon on our own.

Good point, you still burned calories walking around, lifting your arm, all that stuff!

  • That is super impressive Stina!

What did you do for your Monday workout?
Yesterday I went to the gym in the morning to do 20 minutes of intervals and then weights then I went back that evening to do 30 minutes of cardio.

What are your plans for today?
I just got back from doing 45 minutes of cardio. I'm trying to get into a routine of going to the gym more often but my gym is closed all the next week! I'm pretty grumpy about it :(
