Whew!! Busy, busy, busy week!! Our trip to Tahoe was absolutely fantastic. It was my first time there and it fell immediately in love with it. All at once it felt like home (because it's a "small" mountain town like ours) and it felt like someplace special (because of it's pure beauty). My MOH said she's always felt like it was a magical place and I agree!!
Anyway, so we looked at lots of venues, talked to a caterer, had an appointment at an event rental place, explored places for our guests to stay, AND found an amazing jewelry shop. The jewelry shop was kind of an afterthought; we were walking in the north shore and FI saw a necklace in the shape of the lake in the window. So we went in and looked at those. We decided to get the necklaces (I need to take some pictures!) for the BMs and a bracelet for my MOH. They won't be for them to wear to the wedding; just something special that will always remind them of their trip and us. FI got to talking with the owner about a band for him; basically the guy is going to design something for FI that includes a lake and mountains that are based on our town, Big Bear and Lake Tahoe. How cool is that?! FI was giddy like a school boy at the very thought of it! I'm really excited he'll have a ring that he loves as much as I love mine.
The updates are on the planning bio (link below) so I won't retype it all here. We didn't make any decisions there; we came home and went over everything one more time and now I'm about to send out the contracts & checks. That one trip resulted in venue, rehearsal dinner place, caterer, event rental company, BM gifts and FI's ring. Whew!!
Also, I went dress shopping again this week with mom. And, surprise, surprise (to me at least!), I found THE dress. It's so different from that I was looking at before and what I thought I'd get but I LOOOOOVE it and can't wait to wear it on our special Lake Tahoe day!! Pics are on the updated bio too!
Ok, AW-ing off. I'm such a who-ore!

Try under the "Attire" tab, then "Gowns" then "THE Dress." Does that work for you?
I'm glad you like the page!! I had such a fun time writing all that and am having such a hard time writing things for our wedding website. I need to get inspired again!

This is really awesome that he'll have such a personalized ring. I feel like you don't hear that all too often with the man's wedding band. Sounds like you got a lot accomplished!

Beautiful! My tablet was not showing the tabs at first.
The dress that I'm in love with, and have yet to order, is a mermaid. I thought it would look ridiculous on me. I'm a street size 12. But it was really flattering.
Which reminds me. I need to update this stupid ticker. I've put a little dent in it finally.

Melmac - I know!! He really wanted something different too so I'm glad we found something. And I'm shocked we got so much done . . . we were just going for the venue so it was a pleasant surprise!
Wrkn - Pictures pretty please of your dress? I'm on dress-slim down too (though you wouldn't know it from how I ate today at work!) and really hope the dress will fit right on my firmer body when it comes in. Of course, I'm assuming I'll be firmer!

Really beautiful Meg! I am so happy for you. Tahoe is such a beautiful place to get married. <3 I love Tahoe. I am sad you are getting married on the north shore, that is a lot farther away from me.

I love that dress on you! It looks like it was made for you : ).
That's also very cute that your FI is so into his ring. My FI convinced me that he needed 10 minutes to try it on after we had paid for it, just to make sure he'd like wearing it, lol. He was excited and still excited to be able to wear it later. I think it's neat when they show an interest in the little things like that.
You definitely got a lot accomplished! Congrats!!

I was not allowed to take pictures because I didn't purchase it, but it's Maggie Sottero Bernadette.
I wish we would've snuck some pictures anyway. I have pictures of me in other dressses and I don't like not being able to compare.

Don't be sad Raven!! I'll be making at least two more Tahoe trips before the wedding and I'm definitely going to see you on at least one of those. Also, I think we'll need an annual Tahoe trip after the wedding so that's plenty of other opportunity to hang out!
And thank you too Elannis! Probably like your FI, mine has never worn any sort of ring before and was really worried about gettng used to it. He was also worried about how he'll golf with a ring on (he teaches golf, so it's more than a pasttime!). I told him he could just take it off, NBD; I have to take mine off every time I fly at work anyway so it doesn't bother me at all.

Wrkn - I LOVE it!! Is there boning or corsetting inside?
The salon I purchased from was the same way; no pictures until I ordered. It's a Venus gown & isn't even online because it's from their "exclusive" line (VII or something I think?); I had to really search to find a single photo!

But not as gorgeous as your venue. I'm so jealous of your venue that it's making me a little sick, to be honest. It reminds me a lot of the first venue I fell in love with but couldn't have. Gah, life is so unfair... :)

Thanks Elle!! Your venue is gorgeous too though!! We're really stretching the budget for this particular venue but we both thought it would be so worth it. AND, we're both willing to not go big on flowers, to have a dj instead of a band, etc in order to afford that venue! And picking it wasn't without struggle. FI was really in love with another venue as well - The Village at Squaw Valley, High Camp. For that location, we would all ride a tram up to where the Olympics were at 8200' in Squaw Valley for the ceremony & reception. It was beautiful but it was just sliver lake views, was MORE expensive because it's at a resort, and the area where we would have the reception was not an option for me. It was an indoor area that was very banquet-room . . . think forest green carpet, brass trim and beat up from winter ski guests. Thankfully we both loved Fitzhaven as well and it was available on our preferred date. If the weather's awful, we're kind of screwed, so I'm thinking positive thoughts about the weather already!!

That venue is beautiful!! I would suggest though, use the tent for the reception. You never know, if there is rain or it's really windy (which around the lake it usually is) then the tent would help. And hopefully they have heaters to place around everyone! But September usually isn't too rainy up there, so I wouldn't worry too much!

I know I'm super late to this thread but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything that you've planned so far! The dress is gorgeous on you, the venue is fabulous and everything looks amazing so far! I'll be stalking your planning bio from now on!!
