I only posted this title so people would look at it .... (and why are there so many mean threads lately about this board????)
Anyway, I seriously love this board...
I haven't been to many weddings, so I don't know what the normal protocol / procedure is, but I  posted so many questions, and although people don't agree with me and SOME can be a BIT catty, I still truly appreciate all of the  advice. I would rather be told off on here, than embarrass myself in real life by doing something rude or gift-grabby.
I truly appreciate this board, and all of the women who take the time to respond to my questions!

    Haha, I opened this thread expecting another whinefest. Nice one! ;)

    I totally agree that this board could be more interactive chit chat and get to know you, and less "whiny newbs vs. bitchy regs." Anything that closes that gap would probably be a positive thing.

    No, it's more like the people you love won't <em>tell you </em>they judge you. Hence the value of brutal honesty from internet strangers. ;)

    Wow I would love to go to your world, my family judges all the time, especially when we see other members doing something they shouldn't. We all sit there and go what the hell was she thinking..she must be BSC if she thinks this is kosher. So I also would like to say thank you to all the regs on this board and even newbs who don't come looking for rainbows and butterflies, for giving awesome honest advice :D Even though most of the advice given should be commen sense

    I am fairly new here.  That is I never really have a chance to get on this site.  I must say though that this is board is my favorite!  I love coming here and seeing people be themselves and not all nicey-nicey to bad ideas!  For those of you who want hand holding and not real in-your-face advice try going to a day care.  I am sure the small children will love your ideas because they wont understand them and agree with you just to make you happy!

    Keep on rockin this board girlz!!!  i would miss my entertainment if it were to get switched to a hand holding board!

    I think your problem is that you are operating in extremes here. Loving someone unconditionally =/= agreeing and being ecstatic about every single decision they will ever make in life. That's called enabling and validating, and is actually a dishonest and patronizing way to treat someone. My family loves me unconditionally, but they also love me enough to let me know when they think I might be making bad choices that others might judge me for.

    You can't honestly tell me that if your sister or best friend was about to do something totally gauche and humiliating, that you wouldn't tell her it's a bad idea? If you wouldn't, then you need to get off your high horse and stop feeling sorry for us, because you're clearly the one who is not treating your loved ones well.

    It is nice to see that others appreciate advice.  There are people on these boards that ask for advice then defend their actions when they are called out on them.  Don't ask for advice if you don't want opinions.

    Ladies, I'd just like to say that I don't think I've ever posted on here (I"m usually over at NEY, but I like lurking on here) but I LOVE the advice and the snark you dish out.  For the most part (99% of the time) you all give great advice and you all tell it like it is. 

    I also think the majority of you are pretty hilarious.
