Where can I find a plus size dress, but at a decent cost?

I've found David Bridal, but that's about it so far. Our budget for the dress is about 800-1000. I'm a pretty big girl, and I know that whatever I wear my fiance will love it, but we're having mostly his family and I want to look nice.

And also, anyone have any suggestions on what style I should get? I have a big stomach, and big hips. My legs are good, and I have a nice upper body, so I've been thinking ankle length A line, but I have no idea. I'm not very fashion forward.

Thanks!

try alfred Angelo's plus size line and Mori Lee's plus size line. Their dresses are very flattering for plus size girls.

I can't really say which style to choose, without actually seeing it on you. But, go to the salons and try on a BUNCH of them until you find a cut that you like. At first thought, an A-Line or empire waist sounds like it would flatter you.

Here are links to the Alfred Angelo & Mori Lee plus size lines. Try to find an alfred angelo signature store in your area and a store that carries the "Julietta" line by Mori Lee. Most AA and ML dresses will be in the $700-$1100 range. Some cheaper.

  • Well right now a size 22, but I lost my job a year ago and I've gained more weight than I realized since I've lost it. I'm hoping to get back into my original size, which was 18, before the wedding. However, just in case, I'm going to go shopping for dresses that can go up to size 22.

Just a head's up... don't get discouraged by the fact that if your street size is a 22, you will likely be in a 24/26 dress size. Bridal gowns at most places run VERY small. Usually at least 1-2 sizes.

  • I don't know if you'd be interested stacy but I'm selling my wedding gown, size 22. I normally wear a size 18/20. It has a corset back so it could go up a size most likely. It's very flattering. I don't know if you're open to buying a used dress. I had it cleaned and preserved and it's stored in a preservation box right now. It didn't have any alterations besides the 3 point french bustle. Let me know if you're interested. I felt gorgeous in it and it really did a lot for my body. I've gotten lots of compliments on it. Plus I'm selling it for half what you're looking to pay. I've included some photos of it, I have more. Something to think about Smile

  •
Thank you for the option. I don't know how dresses work, but because of severe scaring on my arms and slightly on my neck, I'm hoping to get one with some sleeves. Granted, I don't know if sleeves can be added later or not, so I'll look into it.

But regardless, thanks!

In Response to Re: Where can I find a plus size dress, but at a decent cost?:
[QUOTE]I don't know if you'd be interested stacy but I'm selling my wedding gown, size 22. • You can definitely add sleeves to strapless dresses. I've seen pictures of my dress with sleeves that girls had added. You can also find a little short jacket or bolero.

  • if you could not find the dress you want in your size or ou have found the dress but it is too expensive for you, you can consider to buy it custom made from the internet. i have a plus size friends who havee a similar problem and she ended up buying it from the internet. she bought it from 7foxmall.com. the dress look great on her and it didnt cost her much. maybe you can consider this option. good luck
