Hi all. I am new to the site and in the early planning stages of a late June wedding. This is the 2nd for both of us, so we decided to go with a small (<20) destination wedding (we are located in the NY-Philly metro area). While I won't say money is no object, the venue location is definitely our biggest concern. Originally, I was thinking Dana Point or Laguna, and have meetings planned with two resorts there in a few weeks. A lot of our guests will have kids and we thought we could make a week out of it and visit some of the area attractions (Disneyland, LA, etc.). However, I am beginning to rethink my choice... Sunset wedding? Good for pics, but then the reception is at night... why do a beach wedding if you can't see it at night? etc, etc. etc... Because of restraints with his children, the wedding must be within the continental US and at the end of June. We are not particularly fond of super hot weather, so we will have to take that into consideration. We prefer a location that has nearby attractions to enjoy with our guests. We have no preference for indoor/outdoor, but wouldn't exactly describe us as woodsy or earthy people ;)
Keeping all that in mind...whew!... I was hoping to get some suggestions from those of you who have had or attended a particularly spectacular (intimate) wedding venue.
Thank you all so much!

We live in a DW area, but it's the Central Coast of CA, and not usually hot in June. PM me and I can give you several vendors names.
There is a lot to do with kids in the area Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row and the warf to name a few attractions.

What about Gatlinburg, Tennessee? It's the "Vegas of the Eastern USA" with very liberal marriage laws, and plenty of attractions. You'll have the mountains for scenery, with Dollywood not too far away, hiking, fishing and such as well. It's very affordable. They have chapels you can rent just like Vegas does, from cheesy to elegant.

Virginia Beach?
Outer Banks?
Jersey Shore?
Cape Cod?
We got married on Narragansett Bay, RI in early July. I loved our venue, which is right on the shoreline, and felt like you were on a boat. But the minimum was 75 people. ~Donna

We are having our wedding in Lake Placid NY at the Whiteface Lodge. Tons to do there, especially for kids yet very relaxing. The lodge itself is amazing, great food and people. Being in the Adirondacks is beautiful. We chose this location for your exact reasons, itimacy, children and beauty. I definitley wanted a place where everyone could have a great time.
