How long did you and FI date before engagement? 3.5 years

How long between first date and wedding date? 5 years

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? So far, so good. We lost our contact at the florist, but she's been replaced. Conversation with new floral designer is Monday.

Next major project to tackle? Invitations. Inspiration picked out and vendor as well, just need to sit down with the designer to kick off the project. That meeting is slated for Friday.

How long did you and FI date before engagement? 1 year. We have known one another since just before FI's 15th birthday and were best friends until we were 21, we lost touch. Reconnected 10 years ago, reunited in 2009.

How long between first date and wedding date? 2 years

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? Lisa do you really want me to answer this? There is the dress fiasco, and my bridesmaids but other than that things are bumping along okay now.

Next major project to tackle? Ceremony we need to get it nailed down.

I am an European woman that lives in DC (my hometown in US) and I am planning a wedding in Iowa, in a very, very small city...it has been a challenge!!!! Maybe if I liked simpler things it would not be that difficult, but I like different and generally complicated things....(sigh!)

Next major project to tackle? To find a Day of Coordinator because I can't really coordinate my own wedding.

The only blip so far is that I had my bff who is a photographer lined up to do my pics and also had my cousin who is a phenominal photographer and in art school lined up to do some shots as well as part of her portfolio. Well, I decided I wanted my bff IN the wedding instead and when I asked my cousin to step into the photographer position, she told me she'd already booked a wedding for that day....UM OK THANKS - was she going to tell me? So, I'm now talking to the ONLY photographer who has my date available and I'm nervous about using her. Sigh.

Next major project to tackle? Decor and major planning of the reception space - where tables go, etc. Also, I need to finalize the menu with the caterer and finalize my ideas with the florist for my centerpieces. Meeting with my planner today to get things rolling!

How long did you and DW date before engagement? Uh, this is hard to answer. We decided to be handfasted in May, 2006. In December, 2006 we were handfasted, and that's when I got the e-ring, but in Pagan tradition, that IS the marriage. In March, 2008 we were legally married.

How long between first date and wedding date? 2 years and one month between first date and handfasting. 3 years and 4 months between first date and legal wedding

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? N/A

Next major project to tackle? N/A

I'm another old hag that hangs around here, what can I say? I love weddings...
Wedding Date: 9-11-10
Previously Married : Once for both of us.
# of Kids: One boy each: His is 17, mine almost 15
How long dating before the engagement: 4.5 years.
How long dating before the wedding : 6 years
Our wedding planning went great and was relatively stress free because we had almost 2 years to plan. I took long planning breaks during the 2 years. I nailed down my venue, and florist. Then took time with everything else.

I only got really stressed the last few weeks. I was what I called "WOUND UP TIGHT" I am usually very mellow and easy going person, but did go bridezilla a few times and my husband was always saying "now don't go 'zilla on me baby" that would make me laugh and come out of it.

I had a few minor glitches, but in the end it was all good. I did not strive for perfection. The wedding was gorgeous, there was plenty of booze and food and my husband and our children and our families and friends had a wonderful time. In my mind that equals success!!!

How long did you and FI date before engagement? A little over three years
t date and wedding date? 3 years and ten months. I don't think I could afford to be engaged for more than a year. I'd spend too much money on wedding stuff :)
How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? We had major trouble finding a ceremony venue. Now, we have decided to just use a friend's backyard. We were also a little disappointed with the lack of enthusiasm from our families. Mine is just kind of burned out on weddings, I think, and his family was not thrilled that we were planning a small wedding instead of a huge hometown party. That was kind of a bummer, but we've gotten over it since then.
Next major project to tackle? I am going to spend the weekend making a garland of pennants to hang from the fence in the backyard. I have visions of a perfect project but reality will be fabric glue in my hair and the carpet and all over the dogs.

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? Some, mostly struggles with money, and also some drama queen BMs. My FI has a heart condition which he was born with, and he had some medical issues last year that resulted in hospital bills and missed work. We're picking up the pieces but December was a really rough month, and it meant cutting our wedding budget from $5000 to $2700. We're making it happen though.

Next major project to tackle? Figuring out how to get the invitations addressed. I was gonna use a calligraphy pen, but without lines to guide me, my writing is all over the place. I think if I can't find a solution soon then I'll just run them through my printer...

We've really just started, since we "officially" became engaged on Christmas Day, but we have similar taste, we're working together, don't plan on going into debt, but it's really important to me that Robert have the wedding of his dreams, which I guess I didn't think that men had ever envisioned their weddings, but mine has, apparently.

The blips would be: a sister who is an alcoholic and makes inappropriate comments loudly and at critical times and on a regular basis, an age difference that I'm afraid that she'll make an issue of (I am older than him by more than a year or two

) And that I'm kind of a people pleaser and he's protective of me and has a temper.

Next major project to tackle? We're currently trying to nail down the guest list so that we know what we have to work with. Our families are kind of ridiculous about this. So ridiculous that after we get mad, we laugh at them. A LOT.

How long between first date and wedding date? Exactly 3 years and 364 days.... we chose our wedding date in relation to our first date, so at midnight of our wedding night we will have known each other exactly 4 years.

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? Really just finances. Because this is my first wedding, I wanted something memorable and elegant. He's excited about it, but since we are both single parents, each with a mortgage, we are struggling to put away what we will need to pay the vendors on the day of the wedding. I'm fiscally responsible so this thought haunts me. Real life expenses keep popping up, LOL. He has a savings plan he can transfer some money from, and we both have to do our income taxes and get our returns. In the end I think we'll be OK as long as no major expenses come along.

Next major project to tackle? I've been doing a little at a time, I have a lot of DIY to make this personal for us. However, I am making my ceremony dress and MUST GET STARTED!!!! I've sewn for over 35 years, and am quite skilled. However I'm waiting for one of my best friends, who has sewn 2 wedding dresses previously to come and look over my plans to intertwine three different patterns into one dress, sort of a "stamp of approval" to reinforce my thoughts. She is a busy career woman with her own life, and getting together just hasn't happened yet. The actual time to assemble and sew the dress shouldn't take longer than 50 hrs or so, but the waiting makes me nervous. Besides, I want to get this DONE, LOL.

In line with that project is tackling ME. I'm seeing progress with Weight Watchers and know I can do it, but I also want to improve my overall health. The winter keeps me from doing daily walks, so might invest in some inexpensive home exercise equipment. Plus, our company has a smoking cessation program and I want to quit smoking before the wedding as well. This is probably the "major project" that means the most.

How long did you and FI date before engagement? 4 months, but we knew each other for a year and 1/2 before the first date. We have an LDR, so really only met f2f for the first time after 13 months. The we got serious in March of 2010, and got engaged of June 2010.

How long between first date and wedding date? 1 year 8 months.

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? Pretty good - the pre-nup was a little difficult - seems to bring out "trust" issues, but we worked through it. Otherwise, smooth sailing!

Next major project to tackle? I still don't have a dress!!! Meeting with the florist next week. Church is booked, we've met with the minister twice so far. Venue is booked, DJs booked, vocalists for the wedding booked, still waiting on confirmation from the accompanist. Working on honeymoon plans.

I'm trying to get this all done now, because a month before the wedding, I'm expecting 2 grandbabies!

Just as an aside - those of you who have those countdown things - where did you get them???

I want one!
