So I have been in school for 3 weeks now and I am not having a good start. I have one 8:00 class and then mon and wed i don't have classes until 3 and tue th i don't have class till 10. So the first week of school I came down with a really nasty bug and ended up skipping my super early class because there was no way I was getting my butt up and walking in the cold when I had been sleeping through the night like crap. Last week I was super good with getting to class on time. This week though I went back down hill. My alarm yesterday didn't go off and I didn't wake up until class was basically over and my alarm didn't go off after it's 15 min snooze today either, luckily I was able to get to class under 15 mins late. My instructor has a strict policy with missing classes and being late as any intructor should be but i'm losing grading points for all these studpid inconveniences. I am also having a really hard time with a couple other classes as far as grades and there has been some other crappy stuff has been happening outside of school. I've been trying really hard to get my butt and gear and get going but for some reason i just can't get there. I don't know what is going on with me and it's so frustrating! lets just hope after today a light bulb went off and the rest of the quarter will go smooth sailing.

This is going to sound like weird advice, but switch alarms. I find that sometimes I get too used to my alarm and then I sleep through it/ snooze it too much by accident/ start having stupid alarm accidents that make me miss class. A change of pace might be helpful in getting your butt up in the morning (:
Also, I feel you on the not being able to get in gear this semester. It's tricky when it's cold and gray and blah and you just feel blah too (not sure where you are, but that's how it is for me). Take a little you-time between class and studying, maybe that can help you focus.

Okay I apologize if this comes off as harsh, but this is just ridiculous. This quarter I have 19 units and on M/W/TH I am at school from 7:30 am-9pm or 10 and have to wake up early on Tu at 7 am for a three hour class. I am not even close to being a morning person and have to pry myself out of bed every morning. If you really want to learn and get a degree then do what you have to do to get it done whether that is going to sleep much earlier so you wont sleep through your alarm, get a better alarm or put it across the room so you HAVE to get up to turn it off, etc.

I agree with callalily. Suck it up buttercup. Your schedule isn't even that horrid that you can't somehow find a way to get up for class and get there on time. Don't snooze your alarm, set several if you need to and just get the heck out of bed. 8am is NOT early by any means.

Lisa- you probably wont get this but thank you for the positevness. I did end up setting an extra alarm which has really helped. Things have also been going a lot more smoothly and all the craziness outside of school resolved itself so school is being able to have a much better focus now. I still think it's strange however how hard it is for me to get up when I use to be get up by 5:30 most of my life. Getting those lovely late college classes really screws with you when you suddenly have to get up early again. Winter quarter has always been my downfall quarter even since I have been in HS. I also don't think it's helped that I have been in school for 3 straight years with only breaks between quarters. I think it also has motivated me a little bit more when I figured out the rest of my scheduling and realized that I will completely be done next spring! when I have everything mapped out it always makes me much calmer. I only have 3 more quarter of really heavy loaded classes and then I just have my practicum and then student teaching! Only a little ways to go and then I don't ever have to think about school again! haha :-)
