We are having an outdoor wedding, here is my issue. We checked pricing on renting silverware and dishware. We were originally going to get those plastic plates that actually look VERY real and then the silveware that have the same effect...

Go figure here is what we find out...

Cheaper to RENT plates
More expensive to rent silverware!!

Not sure what to do about cups?

How tacky would it look with real plates, fake silverware and (nice) plasic wine glasses? Anyone have any suggestions on what they did or where they bought from for cups?

I am so frustrated with my budget but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!!

If having matching silverware not a big deal to you have you thought about going to local goodwill and other thrift stores in your area? You could also go to local garage sales as well for the cups. You can find tons of dinnerware at either suggestion for pretty cheap and if you know how to bargain, next to nothing..

Try going to Costco Business they supply restaurants and they have well priced silverware, and cups both you can do plastic and the silver finished plastic wear and be fine if you event is more informal.

An example we bought 25 forks for around 3.99 they are not super nice but they are silver and metal so there is that.

A friend of mine bought all of her silverware at yard sales and thrift stores. She now uses it in her home.

We'll be doing mason jars for the glasses. People can take them if they want, but if not I'll find a use for them.

I ran into the same issue with my vendor. Ikea has glasses for $0.59 each (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80081733/) or a set of 6 for $1.49 (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80094014/). They also have 16 piece silverware for $3.99 (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50087185/).
