I just called a Greek store who makes sorority shirts, bags, etc and they said they'll do it less than $10. Just a thought for everyone. I'm going to call a scrub uniform store since those usually embroider too!

I went with designsbyGloria on Etsy - couldn't be happier! She had the proofs back to me within a day, made changes immediately, and I had them in hand within a week. I needed one for my mom, dad, and FI's mom, and it was 3 for $35. (And, she made me a coordinating, smaller handkerchief with my name and wedding date. Super sweet!)

Please re-rethink these as a gift.

They're a MOB cliche gift, as personalized totes are for bridesmaids.

Will a mom really use these? Who uses them (you are wiping your nose and then sticking your boogers back in your pocket)?

They'll go in a drawer and attract moths.

Just because your not interested in them does not mean someone else wouldn't be.  They are not necessarily meant to be used, they are meant to be a gift to remember the day.  I plan on putting the ones I'm making in a shadow box with a wedding photo.
OP didn't ask if they would be a good idea, she asked if anyone knew where to buy them for cheaper.

Thank you for saying that!  Exactly what I was about to say.  Some people do still use hankerchiefs for one.  Others just like keepsakes!  I was thinking of after the wedding framing the one I'm going to give my mom with a photo of us from the wedding.  Can't attract moths if it's on display.

Madison, these are open boards, and anyone can post.  No one has the right to dictate if/how others can respond, provided they are polite.  This has already been explained to you several times on other threads.

By the way, it's "you're" not "your."  One is a possessive, the other a contraction for "you are."

I just noticed you didn't even bother to answer the OP question instead all you did was offer your unsolicited opinion.
But thank you for the grammar lesson.

I was also going to go with designs byGloria on Etsy.  I think they will make  nice personal gifts for family.

I know what thread (not threads) your talking about and I wouldn't exactly say you explained it to her. I would say you more like jumped all over her because she expressed an opinion that you didn't like and felt threatened by so you and a few other posters jumped all over her and tried to make her look like a rude jerk because her view was different than yours.
It's evident you have something against her since your now trying to pick apart even a simple grammar mistake.

http://www.advantagebridal.com/frombridtohe9.html

My daughter found this site when looking for a sentimental gift for her flower girl, who is also her Goddaughter.

It made me smile when my daughter showed me this website, because she thought of the idea on her own, without ever knowing or realizing I was about to present her with a similar item.

My christening bonnet was made from a handkerchief given to my mother by her mother. Although there was nothing embroidered directly on it,  it included a little "poem"....

"I'm just a little hankie as square as square can be,
But with a stitch or two, they made a bonnet out of me.
I'll be worn to church on your Christening Day,
Then carefully pressed and neatly put away.
On the day of your wedding, so I have been told,
The well dressed bride will have that "something old".
So what would be more fitting than to find little me?
A few stitches snipped and a wedding hankie I'll be."

I did, in fact, snip the ribbons from that hankie I had saved all those years, and presented it to my daughter on her wedding day.

Also on the day of the wedding, the grooms grandmother surprised me with a handkerchief as well.  I was very touched, as the MOB, to be thought of from the grooms family in such a special way.  As I gave away one "heirloom", I inherited a new one for a new memory.

Because of my own family traditions, I see beyond the actual item.  The handkerchief has never once been viewed as "something for my nose".  Although I say, "to each his own", for me, this tradition has never been thought of as cliched. The "use" I have for such a gift goes far beyond its basic definition.

Once again.....these are open boards, and anyone can post.  We are all adults here, and "I am not asking for opinions. You may give yours only when I give you permission to do so," is not allowed here. The act of posting here is solicitation of opinions. You will get responses you "didn't ask for" and advice with which you may not agree. This is allowed.

Moving right along.

The best thing to do when selecting gifts for the wedding party or parents is to match the gift to the person. Shop as if it were their birthday, or Christmas.  The gifts don't have to be alike - although they should be in the same price range for fairness.

mobkaz, I have the dress and bonnet my mother put on me the day I was born. My goddaughter wore it home from the hospital.  I'd hoped to have a daughter of my own to wear it, but unfortunately that won't happen. I'm hoping to pass it on to someone else.

I don't think that's what she was saying at all. I think the point she was making is that as soon as someone says something that you don't agree with or wouldn't appreciate receiving yourself you expect people to follow your suit.

Also, OP  didn't ask if they were a good idea or not or what she should get her parents. I think her mind is made up. She wants to know where to buy them cheaper. Re-read the question and next time answer it instead of going under the facade of "Read the The Knot rules, anyone can post here" guise and then stating your opinion once again.

Finallyfound, you need to re-read my post.  This isn't the board I moderate, but I can tell you to re-read The Knot's rules.  You need to cool it. My posts aren't against the rules, and people solicit opinions by the act of posting.

I LOVE the idea of a personalized hankie for a wedding.  There is a time and place for tissues and an elegant wedding is not one of them - an elegant hankie is appropriate.  In case I do tear up, I don't want to have to look around for a tissue or pull out some crumbled falling apart tissue, I want to be able to have something gorgeous and elegant to match my dress.

I know my mom with full with waterworks. I'm getting one for my mom and me and maybe my MIL.  I'm getting mine from either Li'l Inspirations www.lil-inspirations.com or CoutureWeddingHankie on Etsy www.CoutureWeddingHankie.etsy.com.  They have GORGEOUS styles that are right up my aisle (pun intended). Smile
