Hi All!

I've never posted on the is board before, but I was wondering if you ladies would be able to help me with something. My SIL is getting married in June and is planing to have the reception at her parents' house with heavy hors d'oeuvres.

I believe they are planning on 100 guests. The house is an average 2-story with a forested backyard on a hill. There is also a pool. I should also mention they don't have colors or a theme.

Can you offer any elegant decorating ideas for the home and outdoors? Or direct me to a site that has those kinda things? I was thinking maybe some white lights in the bushes and floating candles in the pool for the outside. I'm not really sure what to suggest for the inside.

It's really hard to make suggestions without knowing what existing decor is there.

Definitely go for the white Christmas lights! I used them for my backyard reception. Hit up eBay. I got 40 strings of lights for ten bucks.

"WEDDING" is a theme, and official colors are something the wedding industry says you "must" have. Why limit yourself? She can use anything and everything she likes this way.

Balloons are okay, but I think they're a little childish for a wedding. How about lanterns in the trees, and on the tables? We used my antique hurricane lamps for centerpieces.

Tiki torches? Use citronella oil. It smells good and keeps bugs away.
