None of the above, because we never merged finances. Our 2 year anniversary is in March.

You could probably still call that a "no" - you haven't merged them so there haven't been any problems : p

We have kind of merged finances.  We opened a joint account for wedding expenses but we both still have our own separate accounts.  We do talk about what we are going to do with finances once married, and we would like to keep at least some money in separate accounts.  We do not fight about money though, and we already share paying rent, groceries, and other living expenses.  Really the only big bills we are keeping separate right now are his student loans, and my tuition payments and my car note.

We'll probably do a combination of joint and separate since we still have a lot of independent expenses.

Haven't merged finances. We keep a budget together but have our own bank accounts (wedding money is primarily in my account at the moment.)

We had two houses (two mortgages, two sets of utilities, etc.).  We decided to rent his house out, and live in mine, so that made one decision easy...but when we finally were ready to merge accounts, stopping the things that were direct deposited and auto drafted caused the timing of switching to be complicated.  Its been two months now, and I think we are almost 100% switched.  I've got one more thing going into my account, and he has to move his mortgage over.

The most complicated thing was figuring out the timing of it all.  We made a calendar of all the bills, and that made it easier.

We haven't merged ours and aren't planning to until we see a benefit to it.

We merged our accounts a few months after we moved in together. It makes things a lot easier for us.

We don't plan on merging our finances. This is marriage #2 for both of us and we find no reason to merge finances. actually I'm totally against it.

We will have a shared checking account, his business checking account (which I can make withdrawals from, but never do) and my checking account.  Since we each have over 10 years of history with our own banks, we will have two banks.  He will rent his house out since it's 20 miles away from where we both work and my house.   We will put money for the joint bills in the joint account.  I'll keep money for gifts and my "exras" in my account.  He'll keep money for the business and his hunting hobbies in his account.   We've had open discussions about money from early in our relationship so it's not going to be a big deal.  I can see me kind of taking charge of paying the bills since I know when everything is due though.

FI and I opened up a joint checking and savings account when we moved in together August of 2010. We still each have seperate checking and savings as well. I have my own seperate credit cards and I have a CD account that only I can touch. He has an account that his tuition money comes out of that only he can touch. When we get married it will stay this way. I don't like the idea of not having my "own" money if that makes any sense. The only reason we opened a joint account in the first place was for rent, bills, and groceries etc. That is the only time we use the joint account and it has worked for a year and a half so I don't see that changing anytime soon, if ever :-)

We never merged ours, either and have never had problems.

We merged after we got engaged and I moved into his (our) house.  Luckily the only debt we have together is the mortgage (I'm not on the mortgage but I'm on the title).

We've begun merging finances and we aren't getting married until June. It has been a little difficult, especially since we don't cohabit, but it's one of the best decisions we made. I'm glad all the mine and yours money stuff will be 100% taken care of before the wedding.

We have a joint account that we deposit a set amount of money to each month. This pays all of our bills with some extra for things like going out, fixing the car, vet bills, etc. We also have our own checking accounts. We felt that we each deserved to spend what we had individually how we wanted.. No fighting.

My fiance wants us to merge all of our finances, but I'm balking at the idea. He's terrible with money and spending it on ridiculous things. We will NOT merge our finances for this reason. My parents have never had a joint anything and they're the happier for it. I'm not getting into a joint account and putting money in it for him to waste!
