Pending bad weather, I will be having an outdoor ceremony this July (with an indoor reception to follow). I want to provide my guests with bottled water since the ceremony will be 45 minutes long. Would it be tacky if I didn't put a custom/personalized label on each bottle and left the original label instead?  If you were attending my wedding and I left the original label on, would you notice or think it was weird?  I'm trying not to spend more money than I already have so far, and custom labels just don't seem worth it to me.

 I thought about doing this and ended up nixing the idea.  It was just 1 more thing to do and 1 more thing to pay for and no one really cared if our names were on it or not....they just wanted the water :)

ETA:  and no one noticed the labels weren't personalized and if they did, I never heard about it.  I don't think it's something they will care about in the long run.

 Yes, custom water bottle labels are absolutely necessary. Without them, your marriage will be invalid, and you will be a meretrix and a sl*t-bag.

No, they're not necessary. Would it be tacky if I didn't put a custom/personalized label on each bottle and left the original label instead?  No. I find the custom labels tacky. You're spending HOW MUCH money and HOW MUCH time just to print your name/logo on everything you possibly can? If you were attending my wedding and I left the original label on, would you notice or think it was weird? Again, I'd think a custom label way over-the-top.

 You definitely don't need custom labels for water bottles.
I've been to a couple of wedding where they did this, and apparently they didn't test out the product before using it because the ink ended up running all over the bottles... nobody wanted to stick their hands in the cooler to grab a bottle out of fear the ink would get on their clothing.

 I bought the labels and just last night returned them.  It seemed like a silly thing to blow money/time on and fairly self-indulgent to think people want my name on their drink container :)

 I don't think they're necessary. IMO they're a waste of money that can be better used for something else.

 We're providing water bottles for the ceremony, and are not putting custom labels on.  I don't think any guest cares, as long as they're not dehydrated in the summer heat!

 Rumor has it that succesful weddings have taken place without custom water bottles. Or mustaches. I heard that even mason jars aren't necessary.

Seriously. If you are afraid of the original label looking tacky, remove the label or just buy yourself some blank glass bottles and fill them with tap water (yes, that's eco friendly). This too is not necessary, and might cost more time/effort than you want to put into it. But I kind of like the look of plain water bottles. I will put bottles like that on the tables during dinner.

 I've attended several summer weddings where there water bottles were in buckets of ice outside the church.  Only one had a designer label and it didn't stay on well.

I'd skip it.

I used to have balls. Blue balls, that is.

 I wouldn't worry about the custom labels, its just another thing to spend money on and spend the time doing.

I am sure it is a nice touch but as  PP mentioned, if they are in ice buckets they could fall off anyway.

No one will care they will just be happy that you thought of them enough to even HAVE water bottles!

 I made them for my wedding and only spent $5 to make labels for 140 bottles of water... not necessary but it was fun to make and add a little personalized touch to the wedding... 

although come to think of it.. .nothing is really absolutely necessary for a wedding... it's your and your fiances day so make the day yours and include those projects that you want... if you dont want the labels then dont' do them

 Thanks Ladies! I'm glad everyone is on the same page as me. I'm not fond of weddings where the bride and groom slap their names on everything. I've only been given bottled water once at a wedding though and it had a custom label on it and I didn't know if this was the norm. Whew, one less thing to do :)
