Usually I'm able to toss my Dry Clean Only garments into an extra gentle cyle with no problem, but I'm worried about a sweater I just bought. It's absolutely gorgeous, so I want to make sure I'm not going to wreck it. Do you think I can get away with putting a sweater into an extra gentle cycle and have it be okay?
If anyone is curious... I didn't realize it needed to be dry cleaned when I bought it. It had a symbol on it, instead of words, and I didnt' know what the symbol meant at the time. Google just informed me what the P in a circle meant. :(

What is it made out of? Normally I toss my dry clean only stuff in the wash anyhow and hang dry, but if it's something I'm really worried about, I would go through the hassle of taking it to the cleaners, especially if it was an expensive item.

I usually turn the garment inside out and wash on the extra gentle cycle and hang to dry.

It's so soft and pretty, I'm being paranoid, aren't I?

Haha probably. I think elle's suggestion is a pretty safe bet.

Thank you guys for the help! I'll do what Elle suggested and I'm sure my sweater will be fine. :)

I use those at-home dry clean products - either the bag with the cleaning sheet, or the one that's made to be used without a bag. Just stick them in the dryer and follow the directions. I don't use it very often because I don't have a lot of dry-clean only items, but I've never had a problem with it when I do use it.
