It would only allow me to sign up via my facebook or twitter account. I don't have twitter so I was going to sign up thru facebook. Not worth it since I don't want the timeline (I know we are all supposed to switch to it, but it hasn't happened yet so I'm sticking it out). So I go thru the chore of creating a twitter account, just to sign up for Pinterest and then go to unlink the accounts since I am never going to use this twitter account. Now I don't really even understand what I am supposed to do here. I have no followers because I can't find my friends unless I connect it to facebook which I won't do. So I don't get it...Do I just keep "re-pinning" other people's ideas? I feel like I'm stealing. I also feel like I could just google this stuff and accomplish the same things. Ok, I am done rambling about this. Anyways, I see people on here talking about Pinterest a lot. Why do you use it?

  I don't have it nor have I tried it- but after reading I can totally understand your frustration. I agree with you- it sounds like Google is a great way to find what you're looking for- That's the way I go about things too. Maybe I'm just old school. idk. I do have a FB, made a twitter forever ago but never used it- I don't get the whole twitter thing really lol.

  That post was a whole lot of struggle. I just signed up using my email... so no help there.
  
  There is a FAQs section of pinterest that might be able to help you. But you can download the Pin It! button onto you web tool bar. If you come across an idea on the internet you can "pin it" to a board and then save it.
  
  I pin things like ideas for the wedding ,future home, food, art, funny things etc. I repin items I find intriguing.
  
  You probably won't have anyone following you immediately since you just signed up. This is a tack board not a popularity contest so that part of the post confused me. Over time you gain followers and can choose to follow others. I like following people since they have interesting pins-

  I don't get Pinterest either - don't worry.  It's just another thing that I have to sign up for, remember a password, check, and generally worry about.  Blah - I have enough of that!

  Why would you sign up for it if you didn't get it?
  
  And?  It's not pretentious of them to make it invitation only.  It's because it's basically a beta and the site can't handle tons and tons of users yet.

  I'm not addicted yet, but I enjoy it. It's weird that you say it was going to force you to change to the timeline on Facebook. I linked mine through my Facebook, but it never said that I had to switch the style of my profile (I don't like the new timeline either). I still have the wall style.

  I mostly use it to keep track of recipies and knitting projects I come across on the interwebs and might want to make someday.  Pinterest remembers the ideas for me...  My old system was to email myself the link, but it'd get lost in my inbox and it didn't have a picture.

  So Pinterest for me, is just to collect my ideas. I like that I can collect them from anywhere (including theknot) because it just makes it easier. I'm not really concerned about other people following me OR finding ideas on pinterest itself... I tend to see a lot of repitition of ideas and generally just get bored of whats there.   I use it just to remember what I like and where I found it instead of bookmarking sites (since I usually use my phone all the time. on it right now)
