my future mil and her family is from el savador. I was wondering if anyone knew of any el savadorian wedding traditions we could incorperate into our rockabilly themed wedding. the only one ive seen online is seven white cars escourt the bride to the ceremony. this isnt really doable for my fi and i, since we dont know anyone with white cars.

thanks for any suggestions!

I found just a little with a google search:

" El Salvadorian wedding traditions - like the wedding lasso where Julia & Pat were bound together in a figure eight, symbolizing their eternal bond."

My FMIL is from El Salvador so when brought us back the gold coins for us to do the arras ceremony. She had them blessed at the Catholic church there. You can google the arras (13 gold coins) ceremony and it explains it all. We are also doing the lasso ceremony which is very traditional.

Why don't you just ask your FMIL?

There is the money Dance-- I'm Salvadoran and that is one that we always do--at least where my family is from. They do the Lazo (which can be made of a rosary, rope or pearls) used at the ceremony and the Arras (13 coins representing future wealth) ..

On a side note enjoy the food..especially the pupusas! :)
