I haven't done them... I have seen some and they look fun, and you get to capture the "first look" really well on camera. I'm not very traditional in my wedding plans, but I am sticking to the tradition that my fiance cannot see me until the wedding. I think a benefit of doing them though is that you do get to remove the stress of doing them afterwards, and you get to spend more time with your guests.

It comes down to your (and your fiancé's--my H was adamant that he not see me before I walked down the aisle!) personal choice. I will say this, though. I have never, ever seen a bride on here who did a first look and regretted it.

Agree, you have to do what is right for the two of you. FI and I both want to wait till I walk down the aisle before we see each other but there are couples who want to see each other before the ceremony and it works for them.

We didn't do it because I wasn't comfortable with it.  But I've heard many other girls who DID do them and they said it was a great choice.  A couple of November 2011 brides said it was the most memorable experience for them.

We didn't do first sight photos but we did have all of our pictures made before the ceremony.  I'm sure it helped us to be less nervous during the ceremony.

We did them and yes, the stress melted away as soon as we saw each other.  We are very traditional and it was a last minute decision for us but we were very happy we decided to do them.  And no, I didn't feel that it took anything away from my walk down the aisle--my heart was still pounding!  And we got beautiful pictures of that first moment (PIB).

We are doing them because i KNOW it will help me relax the day of. We aren't very traditional people ( my FI actually helped me pick out my wedding dress!)
I have seen them done and i always love the pictures, it is much more private and intimate as opposed to afterwards when everyone else is there, and capturing the look on your FI face is amazing to look at afterwards.
Plus you get more time with your guests afterwards and if you ask most photographers they will recommend doing them!

We are going to do them, just because I know we are both going to cry, and I want to be able to fix my makeup before the rest of the photos :) And I know he doesnt want to cry infront of everyone, even tho I know he will anyway...he cries when he watches My Fair Wedding ... even when I'm not watching it with him ;)

We are doing them for a couple of reasons. It started out, so that we could enjoy cocktail hour with our guests, since we are paying an arm and a leg for it. But ultimately, after we've looked into it more, the reason is THAT moment...is just the two of us...Noone else is close enough to see or hear anything that transpires between the two of us, so it is completely our moment, rather than him seeing me at the same time as everyone else does when I come down the aisle. I think it will be more special that way, and to have it captured in a photograph, I think will be priceless.
