It depends on what your friend's and family have that you can borrow. It can be a ribbon to wrap around your bouquet or a brooch or something. Ask around who ever it is you want to borrow from and ask what they have to offer.

I don't know, if it's a close family or friend and that you are returning it I don't think it would be a big deal. Maybe casually bring it up.."I STILL don't have my something borrowed..."

I asked my mother-in-law if she had anything from her family that I could borrow for the day. She gave me the wedding band of hubby's great-grandmother to wear that day which I wore on my right hand. It meant so much to hubby (and his entire family!) that I included their familly that way. Maybe you could do something similiar? Does your FMIL have a nice embriodered hanky you could incorporate into your bouquet? A pin to wear on your bouquet or inside your dress? A locket to weave into your bouquet?

This might be really stupid but my sister had the same problem a couple years ago. She borrowed some of my nail polish and I painted a small flower on her big toes. I know it was borderline cheating and probably didn't count but we had only a few days and were desperate. It worked for us.

Caterpillar, a friend of a friend forgot her something borrowed at home, so she had one of the bridesmaids lend her lipgloss 5 minutes before the ceremony. If that counts your nailpolish flower counts.

I told my husband my something borrowed was my engagement ring. My plan was to leave him in a few years and give it back haha i was just kidding though. Borrow a bobby pin? put a borrowed penny in your shoe? Borrow a dollar from someone and stuff it down your top haha idk.

I borrowed a handkerchief from my DH's grandmother. Which I promptly lost after the ceremony. Good thing it wasn't my something old!

My "Something borrowed" is also my "something old". My grandmother is lending me the pearl jewelry that she wore for her wedding and back and back and back. You might see if anyone has wedding jewelry from their weddings they'd be willing to loan.

Anything works - the only important thing is that it holds meaning for YOU.

And I don't think it's at all rude to ask to borrow things! What are friends for?

I borrowed both my veil and tiara from different friends.

My bride-to-be sister is going to borrow some of my wedding jewelry to wear during her special day.

Only a selfish jerk of a friend would balk at you asking to borrow something special for your wedding day. They should feel honoured!

Since you already have your jewelry, why not a small piece of jewelry or brooch or something that you can affix to an undergarment or inside your dress. It doesn't even need to show - just so you know it's there if it's important to you. And that's a big "IF". This is not a tradition you MUST follow, by the way!

I'm borrowing my grandfather's cake cutting set. I think it was from his baptism or something along those lines. It is very nice and my grandfather passed away quite a few years ago, so it's really special to us.
