problem is the band that comes with it, i dont like. my ring is set really low and therefore makes it verry difficult to get a band to come flush with it. so the band it the set is curved (i dont like)

well the size of my side diamonds descend in size (get smaller as they go out) so it again makes it hard to find a band that matches.

he is kind of strapped of money as well for the honeymoon and everything as well.
i found a band that i really like but its $600 (significantly less than we have previously found)., i am still buying him a band.

my question is....should i just be a good sport and understand that it would be better to wait when he can really afford me a band and find one i really LOVE...or would it be hanus to not have a wedding band at my wedding for me?

Um, does HE have to buy you a band, or can YOU buy your own band?  I mean, it's about to become "your" money anyway (meaning both of yours).   If togehter, you can afford $600, then I say go for it.  If together, you cannot afford $600, then just use the band you have for now and maybe you can buy the band you like later.

Agreed. FI and I are paying for all parts of our wedding together (excluding the engagement ring of course).

I am opting NOT to use a wedding band.  I will take my engagement ring off for the ceremony, FI will use it with the vows and the officiant has a nice blurb in regards to "this ring represented a promise, not the promise has been realized."

I also am wondering what you two plan to do with your $ after the wedding.  Have you discussed it?

If you do'nt have the money, then an extra ring should not be purchased or forgo the honeymoon for the ring.

It will be your money I'm assuming, and if he's strapped for cash, then you're both strapped for cash.  If you can pay for it yourself, the go for it and help your FI out.

FI and I are paying for all wedding stuff together, with the exception of the 3 ring as well since we were not living together nor did we have combined incomes then.

I say help him out with paying for it if you've got the cash and really want it.
I wanted a diamond band to go outside my engagement ring (the idea of a lopsided rings drove me nuts) and I didn't feel that it was his responsibility to fulfill my frivolous wishes at such an expensive time in our lives (not saying yours are, but mine were!), so I went out and bought it myself. I'm so glad that I did, because now I feel that I really have a perfect set.  Most importantly, there was no extra financial stress added.

Do whatever you feel comfortable with!
