Since it is a buffet you should not put anything on the RSVP.  I think it would be a nice touch to have a menu at the table for guests to ensure they know what is on the buffet.  You can do one per person or a few per table.

Instead, you can just use a placecard in front of each item of the buffet that labels what it is. I'm not into buffets, but I like them a whole lot more when I know what's there.

I've never seen food labels, menus, or even entree choices on a RSVP card for a wedding. I've never heard of grumbling, confusion, or illness as a result of their absence. I don't know if that means my friends are more or less healthy, more or less picky about their food, or more or less knowledgable about food, but there you have it.

The same information is usually not provided in the professional banquets I attend. The fancier ones might have menu cards. As they're not quite fancy enough for printed invitations, the wait staff asks for entree selections as we sit down.

Conclusion: Your guests can figure out the food without labels or menus, IMO.

You don't need anything else on your RSVP card... just name and if they are attending or not.  I personally would appreciate a menu somewhere, I don't like getting to buffets and not know what something is, especially if there are any food allergies.  I know for my wedding, we aren't having a buffet, but we are marking the ones on our menus the gluten free options and nut free options.

On the rsvp just have the name and if they are attending or not. As for a menu you should do something. yes it might be obvious as to what most dishes are but you will always get a few people asking "what is this". I would either do a menue at the beginning of the buffet line or label each item.

I plan on having a place on our RSVPs for listing food allergies or restrictions. I'm vegan and I know among our guests there are people with severe allergies, people with Celiac's, vegetarians, etc. I know I HATE having to find someone at an event who knows the food to tell me what is in it so I plan to have ingredients listed for everything.

You don't need a menu at all. And, you don't need reply cards in your invitations either. If you decide to enclose reply cards, there is no need to put anything on it re: menu.
