Hi everyone! I am fairly new to the boards, got engaged over the holidays :)

I have been searching through some old posts but haven't found exactly what I am looking for yet.  I was initially going to have a professional engagement shoot but realized it just wasnt quite worth the expense - my FI and I have been together for +5 years so we have a ton of photos already.  I want to have a photo wedding guestbook but not sure what sites exist to help me put it together (other then target/walmart).

Has anyone ever made their own?  Any tips on the type of paper I should use so people can write on the pages and have it not smudge everywhere?

Thanks!!

For websites, I've heard shutterfly and snapfish are really good quality.  I'm not sure about what's best to write on them with though.  Sorry!

Shuttterfly and kodakgallery are my two favorites and they do sales on their photobooks a lot.  Artscow is also really good and really cheap, but it can take longer to get the item since it's coming from China.  They are going to be on photo type paper so you'll need something like a Sharpie that's photo safe so I would check Michaels or Hobby Lobby to see what they have.

mixbook.com is one i have used before and i love the flexibility and quality. i've made mother's day gifts on there a few times, and made a huge 100-page scrapbook for FH's birthday a few years ago from a big trip we took.

I've used snapfish to make portfolio photo books before (I do some photography on the side, so I wanted to showcase some of it in a book I could show potential clients). The quality is pretty decent and the pages are a semi-gloss that would be fine for writing on if you were so inclined. Snapfish also does a lot of deals like "buy 1 photo book get 1 free" and things like that, so if you sign up for their mailing list they'll send out e-mails when they run a special.

I love the one I made with shutterfly. I bought my dress at david's bridal so they gave me a gift card there. I think it looks really nice if instead of having a color background is having photos as the background... the nice thing about a professional shoot is that they give you high quality large files. If your files are smaller and you try to make it bigger in the book it may be blurry.

Picaboo and Blurb are two of the best around IMO. They offer tons of flexibility in design and the prices are great (especially Blurb)
