DIY Veil

Hey ladies! Have any of you DIY'd your veil? I found the one I want at Alfred Angelo but I can NOT bring myself to spend the 160 bucks on stinkin' tulle and ribbon! We went to wally world and bought the stuff to make it for 7 bucks. Anyone have any tips?

I don't have any tips, but rather, encouragement. I also think it's ridiculous to spend that much on what it is, so good luck! I am certain you can do it. Also, try googling it & I bet you will find some tips.

I think I read that Michael's has directions. Also, there's this - http://www.do-it-yourself-weddings.com/making-a-bridal-veil.html http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/miss-beagles-diy-veil I agree with not spending $160 for a veil. Mine came free with the dress, and if it hadn't I'd have probably bought it on ebay or etsy.

FWIW you might also check out Occansey Designs obridal.com . I found a veil I LOVED but couldn't bring myself to spend the 175 at the salon or even the cheapest 140 online. I tried an etsy seller but had bad luck (fortunately she refunded me) and finally emailed Occansey and the owner was so nice and helpful. My veil isn't really simple or complictaed, but it does have beads in a pattern and she helped me figure out the best beads to recreate the look. I ordered samples and then a week later ordered my veil which came to 80 including shipping. For something fairly simple I'm sure it would be less.

Thanks, tygirl! I will check it out! Good thing I have time :) Speaking of which...I almost threw myself into a panic attack when I realized we are a little more than a year away!

try the seamstress that's doing your alterations as well - I got my veil from Fragile Fit - I hated all the veils I had looked at, I wanted a very minimal veil that would feel bridal but not cover me or my hair up - she made one that was perfect and it was $30!! It was exactly what I wanted PLUS she added a little embelishment to match my dress!!
