Wedding Invitations & Paper

addressing invitations

When sending out invitations is it rude to specify who the invitation is meant for??? I know some people include plus one in their invitations but me and my future husband have some people that would be there just to cause trouble and if the plus one is included in the invitations other guest might invite the troublemakers.

Re: addressing invitations

  • The guests that are invited are all married and I wasn't worried about them not coming but I have recieved wedding invitations that have my name, my future husbands name and a plus one and thats why I was asking. I guess im pretty much asking if I address it to Mr. and Mrs. John Smith would that be fine because its inviting the couple as my guest and not including a plus one?

  • Yes, address the invitations to Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.  My FI and I have been together for almost nine years now and have been invited to several weddings.  The invitations have only been addressed to the two of us.  I have never experienced a plus one for a couple.

<div>If the woman uses her husband's last name then it is Dr. Jane and Mr. John Smith.  If she uses her maiden name it is Dr. Jane Doe and Mr. John Smith. </div>
