All of those are better.  They are NMS personally, but they are much, much, better than the first one.
  • I like any of those, but double check with them because some of those are still very short.

<div>I really like that dress as well, but be careful.  If some of your BMs are larger chested, that dress isn't going to work very well d/t the piping under the bust line.  It more than likely will hit them in the wrong spot.</div><div>

  • The Forever 21 dresses are  cute.

Not big fan of the lacy number from Deb. It just doesn't say 'wedding' to me.

In answer to your question, you totally don't have to get actual 'bridesmaid' dresses. There are tons of options out there at other types of stores.

Honestly the forever 21 dresses are a bit better for me, but not by much.  I wouldn't want to wear any of those because they're so short and are very very sexy - of the three I think the 2nd is the most tasteful.

My girls are wearing this in the firecracker color:

I just think something like that looks more adult than what you can buy at forever 21 - I mean the entire name of the store means that they're trying to market to people who want to look sort of like teenagers.

Have you checked Macys, J Crew, Belks, Dillards, etc?

We kind of are teenagers, so looking like that doesn't bother us, lol.
  • Those are much better! Still short so make sure your girls are okay with that but they are all very cute! Letting them pick which one they like best would look very nice as well.

<div>I mean, if that's what you want - but this might be a nice opportunity to let them get something that they will be able to wear in a more adult setting.  2 of my girls are lawyers, and they both approved that dress as one they could wear to the office on casual fridays, with a cardigan and cute heels - that's why I went with it.</div><div>
</div><div>If you are all really really young, then I think it's ok - as a guest I would sort of brush it off as a teenager thing I think.</div>

But for the record: if you're 16, I would think those dresses were incredibly inappropriate.  I'll be blunt since you're so young - that looks like a dress I would go clubbing in in college.  And the entire point of clubbing in college is to get drunk and end up somewhere that will confuse you the next morning.  But when I was 16 and going to nice events, I still wore tasteful sundresses.  And when I went to something at an office or whatever, I'd do the pencil skirt and silk scarf thing.  Being 16 isn't an excuse to dress like that.

  • How about these from Macys:

    One

    Two

Three - This is currently on sale and will be out of budget after 7/4/12

    Four

OliveOilsMom posted some great suggestions, OP - they still have a young look, but they are tasteful.  They would make your guets smile instead of cringe.

I didn't even think about others caring what my bridesmaids wore. This whole wedding is just becoming a lot of problems. I would almost rather elope. If anyone even remembers or cares, I had a MOH but she got pregnant and the guy was like crazy and old, so I ended up reporting him and now she won't even talk to me, so no more MOH. Sorry, venting. Edit: Thanks, OliveOilsMom, I really like 3 and 4

I do remember this and I'm glad you reported him.  She may not talk to you know, but in the end she will be better off being protected from him.  She will thank you eventually, but now she is probably mad that you told on her.  Just give her time.

  • I love the dresses Olive posted.  They are all very cute and young without being slutty.

A wedding is not a day to look "sexy." It's a day to look beautiful.

That makes sense. I know they all like the sexy look, but I don't want people to make comments that make them feel bad, which it sounds like that will happen.
  • Being beautiful is sexy too, just a different form.

I forgot that you were young and not getting married for a few years. I would hold off on getting BM dresses. It's perfectly fine to look, but I wouldn't purchase anything until you were much closer. Bodies change and new dresses come out all the time.

I didn't say it was better, I just didn't see a problem in saying I'm 17 when someone else said I was 16. It's just a fact. I know I was a holy terror in other posts, but after things you all had said, I changed my behavior. I know it's not easy, but please don't judge me.
  • Whoa, wait.

Why are we getting married at 17?

  • You are way too far out to be looking at dresses.

You can pick a color and go shopping with each BM individually to pick out dresses in their price range. That's what I did. Each BM wore a different dress and each one looked great. Well, except one, but it has more to do with the fact that she's not wearing a bra than what her dress looks like.

I thought you were supposed to start looking 6-9 months out? We're 8 months out now. If we buy from department stores they don't have to buy them for a long time anyway, but at least they'll have time to save money.
  • When I was 17, I was trying kick a** in cross country and fill out an early decision app so I move across the country for college. If I ran fast enough, the track and cross country coach could sway my 13% odds of getting in, and ergo getting AWAY from my hometown.

Marriage was the last thing on my mind. I cannot fathom making that kind of commitment at 17.

[QUOTE]If the wedding is a ways off, don't even bother looking at dresses. Styles and your taste will change so much. I'm really not being condesending at all, but you should be looking at prom and graduation dresses instead of wedding dresses. Those events are important too, don't lose sight of those milestones because you have weddings on the brain.

I only read the first page so perhaps you're re-thinking the dresses in the OP, but just in case...

If it is in a public park, it only takes one gust of wind for your bridesmaids to pull a 'Marilyn' and have the skirt blow up.  Those definitely look like dresses that are suceptible to somethign like that.
