I can't believe the hotel's lawyers would actually blame the victim. We all know we should be extremely careful these days, but there's no way I'd ever blame a rape victim, especially if it's true if they allowed the guy to hang around suspiciously without questioning him. I hope they realize that may not have been the best move PR-wise.

Wow. That is ridiculous, but not suprising. There is still this connotation that the woman did something to "deserve it."

My guess is that they have to say something so that it doesn't set future precedent.I don't doubt that what happened is awful but I have to wonder if the reason that they are making that statement (which I think sucks) is that they could be held liable for other crimes in the future that take place on their property simply because a crime occurred at the Marriott.

Not to lessen the blame on the hotel any, I'm the only one working and there's no way I'd go out and question some random guy hanging out on our parking lot. I've called the cops on stuff like that before, but by the time they get here they're sometimes gone.Still though, the comments were unnecessary and should have been said, they really placed the blame on the victim. Sucks.
