They had a "fish ceremony." Each of them poured a fish from a separate bowl into one big bowl "to symbolize the coming together of a family." There are no words bad enough for this bad idea.

Hahaa! I'm watching that too! Well 1/2 watching, it's on in the back ground, and that totally caught my attention. I've never heard/seen of that before!

My first thought was 'OMG the boards are going to blow up over this'.  Ew.  Just... ew.

The 3 1/2 hour gap in the first one would have been a dealbreaker for me.  Are you even allowed to give 0 points?

My first thought about the fish ceremony was "those fish are gonna die. lovely way to start off." Fish don't do well with that kind of sudden habitat change.

Gotta admit though, having the kid with them was cute.

I think the bride was 19. The couple has a son together who did it with them that was maybe 2ish?

They finished dead last, too.  Thank goodness.

There are people who watched this, thought it was clever, and will do it themselves. Gag.

At least the fish weren't centerpieces?  I think I saw a woman on My Fair Wedding who planned to have fish bowls as her centerpieces, with extra fish in a tank in the back in case one died on the table....

Wow. We did this for our prom, because the theme was "Under the Sea Enchantment" like in Back to the Future. The favors for my baby sister's 1st birthday party, my parents gave away fishes/fishbowls as favors because the theme was "Elmo" and he has that goldfish. That being said, fish have no place at a wedding. That's just weird.

I can't understand the logic in using live animals as decorations or favors.  They're basically disposable animals which makes me a little sad.

Her theme was "teenage dream" and they served pizza and ice cream at the very fancy facility it was held at.

I'm so going to do that! How cute!

Just kidding, that's really stupid.  I thought the point was that whatever gets poured/put together comes together as one.  It didn't come together as one fish, just... two fish in one bowl.  It's like a moving in ceremony.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one concerned about the fish fighting/or dying!

I thought that was the "super-traditional" couple who did pizza and ice cream?

Of course, unless it's on a plate being served for dinner.

I liked the girl who won best.

I totally agree! I've never seen the whole fish thing before either...and it wasn't the best idea. I think maybe sand or candles may have been a better idea. I wonder what they did with the fish afterwards..hors d' oeurves anyone?

I saw that episode. I thought the fish unity ceremony just screamed "hey! look! i'm tryin so hard to be different!" I'm all for being unique but some things can't always be tweaked, just looks weird when you do it.

I'm not saying I like the fish or anything-- I didn't-- but I think the couple actually kept the fish as pets after. When they all met up after she was saying how her little son loves them and calls them fishy or whatever. So at least they weren't really disposable. Weird and all, but not as bad as the centerpiece thing.

i thought the whole episode was odd last night.

The fish thing was...wierd.
That skyscraper (I think that was the intent)  cake was hideous
a 3.5 hour gap would have sent me home.
and i didn't like the pizza and ice cream idea.  Not for a wedding anyway.

Now if they had Al's Beef, I would have SOOOO given them a 10! :)

Yeah, when I saw that cake, I couldn't help but stare at the screen in horror and think "what in the world is that thing??" When the bride explained that it was the Trump Tower where he proposed, I thought ok good intentions but horrible execution. If I were her, I'd so go bridezilla on the baker cuz that was just bad.

Eventually, the "unity" traditions are going to get so carried away that people will have other people's weddings in the middle of their own to symbolize their own marriage.
