Hello! I searched through a few pages on this board but couldn't find the exact response I was looking for. I'm sorry if you've answered this question a million times!

We are having a "no children" wedding. We addressed the Save the Dates and the Invitations in the proper manner.

So, I got my first RSVP back today that includes a child. (They RSVP'd for 3 instead of 2.) I am trying and trying to think of a tactful way to tell them that they can't bring the kid. Any help with the wording??

Thank you!

"Hi!  We received your response for the wedding.  Apparently we had a miss communication, the invitation was only for you and SO, not little person.  I do hope you will still be able to make it."

"Hi Suzy, I just got your RSVP and I noticed it was for 3 people instead of 2.  I'm so sorry for the confusion, but the invitation was only for you and John.  We can't accommodate Junior at the wedding.  Will you still be attending?"

Come up with a tactful rebuttal for "But can you make just one exception for my beautiful little angel? He/she is so well-behaved and I just can't come without him attached to my hip."

b/c you just might get it from them, if you addressed to just the parents and they still didn't get the memo.....

I like what Steph said (wrote) :).  If they say they won't come if they can't bring junior - your response is "I'm so sorry to hear that.  We will miss you and hope we can get together another time when junior can be included".

I'm sorry, but we aren't able to make any exceptions.  Will you and John still be able to make it?

I agree with what others have said.  Just make sure you have a good answer for when they try to convince you to let the little one come.

The responses are great! I had the same problem. Just use something like the above suggestions, or follow it up with "the venue isn't really suited for kids, and we have limited space".

Had the same problem! That is why my wedding is at 8pm.. To late for the kiddos to be out!

More than likely, this will happen at your wedding if you are wanting to eliminate the kids attending.

I'm using this "I'm sorry if there was any confusion, but we only reserved 2 spots for you.  Will  you and SO still be attending?"

I want to add this JUST in case; the only exception to the rule is a new baby that is breast feeding. Otherwise, everyone has given you great advice.

That's a divided opinion on these boards, not a mandatory exception, from past threads' experience.... not everyone agrees.
