Name Change?'s

I know its been asked, I searched and I can't find it on the boards. 

Will my little pink slip from the marriage license work?  I haven't received the original yet.

Also, if it does work I have to do SS first, then DMV correct?

    No, the pink slip you got will not work.  You need the signed sealed version from the town you got married in.  Have you called them, requested it, and paid for it yet?  Did you get married close enough to where you live to be able to pick it up, bc that would be faster.  I was able to get mine less than a week after my wedding. 


    And the order of DMV or SS doesn't matter.  I happened to do SS first, but they never looked at anything I got from SS at DMV, and I know other girls on this board did the DMV first.

    Thanks!  I just called the township and they have it so i will need to go in its not a horrible drive, I'm off today so I would rather get it all done lol.

    Jumping on the thread, sorry Cheryl....

    Do one of us need to pick it up, or can I have my Grandma (who was the witness when we applied for it) pick it up?  It's really hard for us to get down to NJ to pick it up ourselves.

    Chelsea - check with the town.  I just sent in a check with a form from the website and they mailed it to me.

    Bedminster said that my mom could pick it up so I'm sure grandma could.  I would call ahead though.

    I went to SS first and then the DMV.  Surprisingly, the DMV was super quick--I recommend the Somerville DMV!
