Hello all:
Just wanted to ask for your advice of how many weeks your RSVP date is supposed to be before your final head count is due are(mine is due 2 weeks before my event). I have found varying things online but wanted to ask some experienced brides for their advice. I want to give people as much time as they need but also need to leave some time to personally contact individuals who did not send the RSVP back.

Also, for those that send their regrets on the RSVP back to me, is it proper to send them a wedding announcement or some other acknowledgement of the event even though they were not able to attend? I just don't want to leave anyone out.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

If your final head count is due 2 weeks before the wedding, I would make the RSVP deadline 1 week before that so you have some time to track down anyone who hasn't responded by then.

ETA:  Announcements are only sent out to those who weren't invited to the wedding.

Invitations are sent 6-8 weeks before the wedding, with an RSVP date of no more than four weeks before the wedding. If your headcount is due two weeks before, I would set your RSVP date one week before that.

Announcements are sent only to those not invited to the wedding, and they are only sent after the event has taken place.

And if my venue requires final numbers 30 days prior to the wedding, I should just make the RSVP date 1 week ahead of that deadline, even though it doesn't follow standard etiquette guidelines?

Kat, I've never heard of a venue that needed those numbers that far out. Also, with your full invitation in your sig anyone could crash your wedding because you have way too much information out there for lurkers.

My venue (which also does the catering) is also requesting our final headcount 30 days out. I think that we can add a few people to it after that, but we cannot lower the number at all.

Thanks Eagles...I modified the invite in my Siggy...really appreciate your help with that! :)  As for my venue, yeah...they require 30 days since all catering is done on site with them.  I can add but cannot subtract anything within 30 days so, it has forced me to modify my plans with the RSVP slightly.  :(

Hehe, thanks! He is quite the cutie in person :)

Thank you all for your advice - I appreciate it. I was assuming this would be the case, but wanted to be completely sure... while we are on the subject, may I ask you all if there is there a polite way to get those who haven't sent back an RSVP in time of what their response will be without being naggy (especially those who may not respond to the first email or voicemail in a timely fashion)?
Thanks in advance :)
