I had my first training session yesterday. I have never worked with a trainer before and wasn't sure what to expect. At the end of the work out, I threw up. I at least made it to the rest room. I am completely embarrassed. I do still want to continue with my trainer because I know I need it and I paid a lot of money for him. Has this happened to anyone else before? Training was at 4:30pm and I ate lunch at 2:00. There was no cardio involved during this session, just weight training. However, he did say that we would be doing some cardio for the entire session which is tomorrow and mentioned something about wearing a harness on the treadmill. I want to tough it out and stay strong, but I must admit, I'm terrified!

The last time I puked from working out, it was after a power skating class in high school (I figure skated). Those workouts were murder, even though I was in relatively good shape! It can happen to anyone!
And I guarantee it's probably not the first time your trainer has made someone puke :) Don't be embarrassed. Maybe eat your lunch a little earlier if possible and keep an open mind. He's there to help you so if you are concerned about it happening again, let him know.

If you start feeling like you're going to throw up again tomorrow, say something. It's good to work out hard, but if you're getting sick, you might be going too hard for right now. Trainers don't know what's going on with your body unless you say something, so speak up. At very least, he can give you advice to keep it from happening, foods to eat, not eat, even things to watch, like your breathing.

Make sure you have a lot of protein and drink a lot of water. Check out the paleo diet, or the caveman diet on google. It can give you some ideas. Good luck with your trainer tomorrow.

I am usually incredibly sore after working with my trainer... even now after working with him for three months. We started out slow and are adding weights and more challenges to my exercises each week. If you feel sick during your workouts, just let him know. If you go too hard in the first few weeks. you are less likely to stick with it. Go at your own pace, but remember to push youself.

If you threw up and no cardio was involved, it's possible that the workout itself may not have been the issue. Maybe it was something you ate? I only mention this because the only times I have ever come close to throwing up were after very intense cardio workouts.
It's also possible that two and a half hours wasn't enough time between your lunch and your workout. Try eating a bit earlier next time and see if that helps.
There's nothing to be embarrassed about. If you get to a point where you feel sick during your next few training sessions, make sure you stop and let your trainer know that you need to slow down. Only you know your limits.
Good luck!
