Hi there, I am getting married June 2, 2012. it keep getting pushed back due to kids. I've had 3 in 4 years, my oldest is turning 4 on valentines and my youngest turned 10 months yesterday (2-6) I just want to be confident in myself. I was always a bigger girl, I would say with all 3 I only gained 30 pounds now I want to loss as much weight as possible as fast as possible. Does anyone know how? which workouts I should do? oh also I suck at making food, my fiance is small and he wants fast quick meals and he hates healthy food. Thats a huge reason why i gained weight, how can i loss weight if he only eats certain food (such as only white bread and rice) he loves fast food, but i try to cook as much as possible. Also so hard since he works the night shift our eating is weird, I wake up, and try to work out so hard since I have absolutly no energy. My day consist of wake up at 7am with my youngest daughter after making her breakfast and feeding her, i do baby leg ups (put her on my legs and lift her up) my next two daughters wake up, I make them breakfast, By 11am Nova (my youngest goes down for a nap) My fiancee then wakes up. I make him breakfast (normally I am too busy to eat breakfast) than I clean until 1 pm, when I start to make lunch for everyone, this is our biggest meal of the day. Everyone eats, I eat, then I clean up after lunch. Normally Nick ( my fiancee) drives him self to work but he got a DUI and now I am driving him to work at 3 pm, I get home around 4:30 to 5pm, then all us girls play as we clean, around 5:30 to 6pm I cook a small dinner for us, then its bath time for the girls about 7pm, 7:30 nova gets a bottle then she is off to bed, Karlie and Haylie and I clean up, then they get to watch a movie as i clean up after dinner. about 9pm they are off to bed. I finish cleaning up its then about 11pm. I am dead tired can hardly keep my eyes open. I do some laundry take a shower. by this time it is about 1 am, Nick arrives home from work, drives or co worker, and he wants to spend time with me, we take a shower ;) ;) and then i make him food cuz hes always hungry we watch alittle tv until hes very tired usually about 3 am and then off to bed where ive got 3 dogs in the bed. and then nova wakes up at 7am and my day starts again..... I cant see where I am able to fit working out or even alittle me time. I have a big house with 3 kids and 3 dogs, It feels like i am always cleaning. and I have no time to run on the treadmil or work out with the ps3 game, or zumba on you tube or the ab lounge or even the bike i have... please someone help me... even if its a recipe anything will help!!!!!!!thank you

I'm having alot of the same stuggles you are going through but I found a website skinnytaste.com.  I've made several recipes from them and they all were great plus my fiance didnt even realize they were healthy.

I read a funny article today. This radio DJ has decided a write of a book on weight loss - his book will only contain 3 pages.

Page 1

EAT LESS

Page 2

RUN MORE

Page 3

DRINK MORE WATER

I thought that was quiet funny ... yet true.

Good luck :)

You don't need to work out to lose weight.  You can lose a good deal of weight without ever setting foot in the gym.  But you  need to watch what you eat.  I would sit down with your FI and say "Honey, I know we have very different eating habits.  But I'm really determined to lose weight and get healthier before the wedding, so it would mean a lot to me if you'd be supportive.  Part of this may mean trying new things, or making your own dinner if you don't like what I've cooked  I'll do my best to cook things we both like, but the current things we're eating just aren't cutting it."

Then get suggestions from him on healthier things he'd be willing to try.  Make the current things you make healthier--buy leaner meat, use wheat instead of white pasta (if he won't eat the wheat, try the Smart Taste for a start, or do what I do, and cook two pots of it.  It doesn't take any more work to cook, just a couple minutes longer to do the dishes).  Throw in some white bread for his dinner.  Put extra butter on his veggies and not yours.  Simple changes can make a big difference.

There are also lots of really recipes that don't TASTE healthier.  Try skinnytaste.com (as suggested above, it really is an awesome site), cookinglight.com (they also have magazines and tons of cookbooks, and have lightened up comfort foods, etc), or hell, find a recipe and bring it here.  We can tell you how to lighten it up.

For that matter, you don't have to "work out" to be active.  You mentioned in the OP that you have play time with your kids in the evening.  Find ways to make this something active.  Instead of thinking "I have to exercise" change your thinking to "I need to move more."

Besides that, I agree the advice from the PP.  Good luck!

yes!  Excellent point :)  You could do things like set up a little obstacle course to do with the kids, or just play fun, active games.

I like you, marcee, stick around.  We need more sane here.

Agree with the PP's. I think it is important to get your FI on board. I sat my FI down and told him I really wanted to lose weight, not just for our wedding day but I needed a lifestyle change also. Getting engaged was the swift kick in the butt that I needed. He was so supportive and told me whatever he can do to help me he will. He has even liked most of my healthier recipes.

The other ladies have given you some great recipe websites. I agree with making an effort to be more active instead of "working out" You could always go for a walk with the kids/dogs or a bike ride if they are old enough.

I love what sparkles said. It's not about losing weight for the wedding... it's about making a lifestyle change. It's something that you should do for yourself and your family. Setting a good example for your girls now will help them throughout their lives. I think that your FI needs to get on board and maybe talking to him about it as a lifestyle change for the family, instead of a bridal diet, may have a bigger impact. Even though he is "small" doesn't mean that he is healthy and maybe discussing with him the long-term effects of bad eating will help him realize that it will benefit everyone. Also, I like the idea of trying healthier recipes that have taste. All too often people associate "healthy" with "bland" and it sounds like your FI may just need some convincing. :)

Marcee has a great point as well that it's not about exercising at the gym but just about moving. Think of ways to incorporate your girls into your moving. I know it's probably cold right now where you are but even a walk outside (around the neighborhood??) during the middle of the day is something. You can also use things like canned food as weights. If you have the room in your house, think about lining up canned goods on one side of the room and then having to move everything to the other side. It sounds nuts but if you think about it, it's cardio (walking) and arms and legs (squatting down and do a bicep curl when you lift the can up). You can also do wall squats and have the girls do it with you. Tell them that whoever can hold the longest will get a prize (obviously something small and already in the house). Using the girls as weights can be fun for them too!

Another great tip mentioned in PPs is drinking more water. You will be amazed what drinking water will do for you. Challenge yourself to drink 40oz each day and then build from there. The more water you drink, the more you'll go to the bathroom (more walking), and the more you'll speed up your metabolism. Plus, most of the time we feel hungry, we are actually dehydrated. You will have immediate overall results by drinking more water.

It sounds like you've got a tough schedule and I cannot even imagine doing everything that you do. I give you tons of credit! But don't forget to take care of yourself. Your girls need you to be around for a long time... It's not easy but you can't put yourself at the bottom of the priority list. Don't focus on the scale number too much either. Try to feel the way your clothes fit and how much energy you have. It sounds like you have the mindset to accomplish pretty much anything... I wish you all the best with this life journey. :)

Hey I did a nutrition program that helped me lose about 10 lbs.  I would have lost more if I exercised but I didn't that much.  It starts with a reset to cleanse and reset your metabolism 5 days and then teaches you tons of stuff about eating right and being healthy.

One of the reasons i like it most is because it's easy because it involves some meal replacement shakes and snack bars so it's supper easy to make those especially for breakfast, and carry the bars around in your purse.

But also I've learned alot about healthier cooking.  I make lots of healthy meals now and my fiance likes them because they still taste good.  If you want more info on the program PM me and I will be happy to help you.  I also have some recipes I can send.

There is also a great online support group on facebook with a bunch of people also doing the program and they are super helpful!

Good luck!!

I think PP have given you great advice.

The only thing I wanted to add is that you can't force your FI to be on board.  You need to realize that you can still do this fo yourself, even if he doesn't want to help.

I only bring this up because I have been trying to get my FI to he healthier and more active with me.  I have just come to realize that I am doing this for me and if he doesn't want to do it, then he isn't going to.  We have many nights that I work out while he plays call of duty.

I would manage your diet.  Cook healthier meals.  Healthy doesn't have to mean they taste bad either.  I am sure you will be able to experiment and find lots of yummy healthy recipes.

I was having the same problem between 2 jobs and home life.  I bought the "Taste Of Homes: Comfort Food Diet" cook book and its been very helpful.  There are many slow cooker meals, 8 ingredient or less meals and even 20 minute or less meals.  I started switching to these meals and my FI is still satisfied with the meals.  So basically if you want fried chicken if you switch to this recipe you get your craving satisfied just without all the guilt. They are tasty and I feel better eating them.  Plus I eat a lot of cold cereal (like mini wheats or cherrios) with a peanut butter banana or apples.  If I dont feel like cooking something different then what he does.

As far as eating out, we came up with fast food places we can both enjoy without me feeling like I cheated.  Our fast food places of choice are: Chipolte, Panera, & Subway.

Hope this helps!
