Getting in Shape

Started Insanity today...

And I loved doing the fitness today but I feel like I'm going to dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! My legs feel like Jell-O! I think I'm going to need lots of encouragement. Only 59 days to go right? lol :)

Re: Started Insanity today...

  • You can do it! A friend of mine just sent me Insanity. I have to get up the courage to actually start it. Good for you, keep it up!
  • I tried Insanity once, it was INSANE! :) I got through about 4 weeks but then all the jumping really hurt my knees, so my advice to you is land softly when you jump!! Good luck!!
  • Yes, definitely be careful with your knees.. I did Insanity a couple years ago. I had to get new sneakers after a week - my knees were killing me from using the old ones. Also, I used to use two mats - I was working out on a hardwood floor.
  • I loveeee Insanity!!! I think I like it because it is so insane.  At least it's only like 40 minutes and you know you burned like a million calories..not really but you know what I mean.  You don't end the video thinking.. "wow I didn't even break a sweat".. because that just is impossible to not break a sweat.  I did it for about 2 months straight however the third week in I stopped eating healthy then took a week off and then restarted the videos for the second month so I never did more than one week of the second month videos.  I saw results fast when I was eating right and doing it the first 3 weeks but slacker.. yes I am haha.  I will actually be starting up again soon once I get my diet back into control! Good Luck!!! You can do it!!

I did P90X for a few weeks before, and that was awesome as well! However, almost all workouts are an hour, and yoga is an hour and a half. I've done plenty of yoga in the past, easily lasting an hour and a half, but when I have to wake up early in the mornings it's tough having workouts lasting between 45 minutes to 90 minutes, then fitting in a shower and breakfast before work.

I've been interested in Insanity, and if it's only 40 minutes per workout, that shaves off some time on my workouts in the morning! If I see a lot more recommendation for it in here, I may look into getting it =)

Are you doing a recovery snack or drink afterwards? It will help you recuperate faster, and build muscle better, which is a very good thing.

  • Stick with it! Your legs will be super sore for the first two weeks. After that it will get better. You will still be tired but your legs won't be as sore. I'm on the second week of month two. Month two workouts are about an hour long but it still goes by quickly. I love insanity and feel so good after each workout. You can do it!
  • Omg girls yesterday I couldn't even think about working out. I could barely get out of bed I was so sore! But today I'm feeling less tight so I'm gonna re-pick it up in the morning. And yes AshleyNicole I'm going to start protein shakes tomorrow! Anyone who can make it through the full time is a total champ. And I will be too :)
  • I'm on day 15 of Insanity! Just took the fit test for the 2nd time yesterday and I'm already seeing an improvement. To be honest, haven't lost any weight yet (I wasn't super strict with my eating during the first week / week and a half, since I started the week of Thanksgiving), but I think I'll be able to keep myself on track food-wise from here on out (we don't do a big to-do for Christmas, so that shouldn't be an issue).

My FI has been doing Insanity for almost 2ish years now, and he's doing it with me every morning... which is helpful and annoying. Helpful to have a buddy to work with and to make me get up every morning. Annoying to have someone who is doing everything double or triple time because he's in ridiculous shape, and I'm stuggling just to keep up with the video. Still though, I wouldn't be able to do it without him pushing/motivating me.

Not feeling like I want to die anymore in terms of muscle pain... so hopefully that's a bright light to look forward to! :)

  • Two months after I had my son I was determined to get back in shape and decided to do Insanity.  The workouts were great....I definitely felt every minute of it.  I preferred the first half of the series as the videos were shorter, but even the hour videos weren't terrible.  I think I wore out the old floorboards of my house with all the jumping around we did!  My fiance and I did the videos together every day for the entire time.  Despite the sore muscles, I didn't miss a single day of work outs for the entire 9 weeks.  However, I did not follow the diet portion of the plan.  I just ate sensibly.  I didn't see any difference in my weight at the end of the 9 weeks (maybe I ate worse than I thought!!!).  Although I definitely saw an improvement in how many of the exercises I could do in the fit test at the end compared to the beginning, it was kind of disappointing that I didn't lose the weight I had expected.  I would recommend that if you do the workouts, do the diet part of the plan as well.  I've heard of other people having great sucess with Insanity
