It's the first day of summer, so it's time for our summer challenge. We'll do weekly check-ins on our progress. Challenge ends on 9/22.

Here are the points:

1 point for meeting a daily goal
7 points for meeting a weekly goal
31 points for meeting a monthly goal
100 points for meeting a summer goal

Everyone can have up to 3 goals, (we want to keep it manageable!), plus one bonus summer goal. With the exception of the bonus summer goal, they can be any combination of goal types.

This sounds like fun, but I have a silly question ... what constitutes a daily goal? Like staying within your calorie goal or WW points?

Juliet, a daily goal can be anything that would be done every day. 
Your examples of staying within your WW points or calorie goals are perfect.

A weekly goal could be something like: working out 3x (or 5 or 6x) per week.

daily goal        -  30 min. of cardio no matter my motivation level
weekly goal   -   3 days of strength training and not lazy training
monthly goal   -  Eat with no more than 3 less than stellar days.
summer goal   -  20 more lbs lost by Friday, Sept 23rd


Thanks so much for doing this Emy.  It really sounds fun!  I'm eager to see what everyone else sets as their goals.  i might even change mine is someone inspires me with something better today.

Awesome!  

I'd like to join in then, hopefully some accountability will help me out! 

Daily goals: Staying at or under my calorie goal
Weekly goal: Completing my DVD weekly rotation (5 workouts/week)
Monthly goal: Complete at least 16 out of 20 scheduled workouts.

Summer goal: Lose at least one dress size


(Are these appropriate goals? lol sorry for being a newb about it )

Daily goal: Track my eating, everything is written down
Weekly goal: 2x/week strength training workouts - changing this goal
Weekly goal: 2x/week hot yoga workouts - changing this goal
Summer goal: Reach 50 pounds of total weight loss

Daily goal: Track my eating, write everything down
Daily goal: Be active every day (beyond just walking) - could be strength training, yoga, or cardio workout
Monthly goal: 8 pounds of weight loss/month
Summer goal: Reach 50 pounds of total weight loss

I'm in! Can we change/update my goals as we go?

Daily goal - tracking everything I eat
Weekly goal - Strength training 3x/week
Weekly goal - cardio 2x/week
Monthly goal - Get back into the 190s (June).
                        Get into the 180s (July).
Summer goal - Get into the 170s. That's only possible if I lose an average of 1.5 lbs per week.

Juliet, those goals look perfect.

Favorite, the challenge is meant to be about our motivation and support, so while you probably shouldn't change goals every week :) it's totally fine to make adjustments.

Fun!  This is an awesome idea, I can't wait to see what everyone else puts as their goals.

Daily goal - At least 64 ounces of water every day
Weekly goal - 6 days of working out (3 cardio and 3 strength days a week)
Monthly goal - No more than 3 free days a month
Summer goal - Complete the 5.2 mile Brewster Brew Run on August 13th without having to walk except to drink (I cannot drink and run, but also do not want to get dehydrated and die)
Once I find something I like, I'll put it here.

Yay!  I have been waiting for this since you mentioned it.  Its going to take me a bit to come up with how exactly I am going to word my goals, but I have already come up with them.  I wanted to see how others framed theirs. 
I just got really excited to see it and had to post my excitement about this.

Hi, Im new to this thread, and I love the idea of being accountable to someone other than myself at this point!

Daily~30-45 min of cardio
Weekly~ Doing my excersize videos 3x per week
Monthly~ no more than 2 free days in the month

This is actually the first time I've used the message boards, I'm glad to know they're here! Could someone explain what a sticky is, or just how I can keep up with this thread?

My goals are:
Daily - Drink at least 64 oz of water a day
Weekly - At least 3 workouts (cardio/strength) a week
Monthly - No more than 3 free days a month
Summer - 15 more lbs lost by 9/23

This could actually be quite fun!

Daily: Stay with in my points for the day
Weekly: Cardio work out at least 4 times a week
Monthly: Lose 4 pounds a month
Summer: Weigh 145 by September 21 (16 pounds to lose).  This is what I weighed the day I graduated high school.

Hey girls, count me in!!

Daily Goal - to drink atleast 8 glasses of water a day. ( I am horrible at drinking water)
Weekly Goal - Run 6 days a week and add 3 stength training days
Monthly goal - Lose 3-4 lbs a month 
Summer goal - Drop 10 lbs and get back to 130lb!

Ok. I had a hard time coming up with a monthly goal but I see we don't need one, just three goals.

Daily goal - track my food using Livestrong app&website.

Weekly goal - 6 cardio workouts a week, being any combination of biking, swimming or running but must include at least one 10k or more run and one speed/tempo or hill run workout.
Is that too complicated? If so, I will edit.

Weekly goal - prepare and take a healthy lunch to work for every shift during that week (3-4 shifts per week depending on the rotation).

Summer goal - run a sub 25:00 5k for my leg of the relay race on September 18

I wrote this at the end of my backshift so today (2011-06-22) will start when I wake up.

Daily: Drink more water and eat out less.
Weekly: Work out at least 3 times a week.
Monthly: Lose 4-8lbs.
Summer: Lose 12-15lbs.

Weekly: Run 3x per week
Monthly: Only 4 rest days per month
Summer: Run 16+ miles for St. Jude on Aug. 6th (a little early in the summer, but something I am motivated to do!)

Hi! I'm fairly new to the knot and brand new to the whole thread/message boards/sticky thing, but I think I get it. Haha.

@emyinpink, are we supposed to respond to the msg you post weekly with our tallied up points? How am I supposed to find the post? Will I be notified because I'm responding to this post right now? And what is the difference between yoga and hot yoga? Sorry for all the questions! ;)

I just decided today to start my weight loss journey for my wedding (only 4.5 months to go)!! So, this is really exciting!

Daily - 30 minutes of cardio
Weekly - Strength training 3x
Monthly - 12 bikram yoga sessions
Summer - Lose 10lbs

This post will stay at the top (and it will be where I keep the long-standing point tally). For the check-ins, I'll post a weekly check-in post (on Tuesdays), where everyone will talk about how they did that week, and we'll tally up the last week's daily and weekly points.

Hot yoga basically just means yoga in a heated room. There are a few different forms, Bikram Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga. The studio I go to, has more Power Vinyasa classes (some similar in the style to Baron Baptiste) as well as Hot Hatha classes.

I am finally getting motivated to lose the weight I put on for my wedding on November 26th.

My daily goals: No chips
Weekly Goals: Cardio 4 times a week and yoga 2 times a week.
Monthly: Staying on track
Summer: Lose 20 pounds.

Does anybody have any good diet or workng out tips?  Please help!

ok, here I am! I'm in!

Daily goals: drink more water, limit myself to one soda per day and make healthier choices.

Weekly goals: walk at least 5 nights a week (with some jogging), sculpt workout 6 nights a week.

Monthly goals: lose at least 2-3 inches off waist and butt.

Summer: fit back into my old jeans by fall (so lose 2-3 sizes)

This is my first challenge!  So excited!  Ok goals:

Daily goal - Stay within my daily calorie goal
Weekly goal - workout 4 times a week at least 45 min cardio and 30 minutes toning 
Monthly goal -  lose 2 1/4 a month
Summer goal - lose 7 lbs!!

Since I'm a newbie let me know if there is anything else I need to post or do for this challenge!

I'm in! This is a great way to add some extra accountability!

Daily goal - Stay within my daily calorie goal
Weekly goal - workout at least 4x (run, gym, yoga or shred)
Monthly goal - Be down at least 5k calories according to my calorie counter
Summer goal - Reach the elusive 118 on the scale! (I'm not so much looking for a number as I am the way I look and feel, but I have a few more lbs to shred in the mid section and wasn't sure if "be happy with my abdomen" was a substantial enough goal)

I'm really hoping this helps me reach my ultimate fitness level by the wedding!!!
