I'm going to Belize! I heard amazing things and it was much cheaper (and more exotic in my mind) than Hawaii. I'm staying at the Grand Caribe Resort & Condos-- which is perfect for us! Definitely check it out!

My future sister-in-law and brother-in-law went there for their honeymoon a year and a half ago, and they loved it - but one word of warning....there is a bug there that is, in addition to being invisible, is also attracted to some hormone in women - and my sister-in-law spent her whole honeymoon with benadryl in hand because she got really bit-up by the bug. She said she would love to go back, but would check with her doctor first to see if there is some shot she could get. She said she spent one night in tears because she itched so bad.

i've been to Belize for a vacation with my FI in June 2010. Gorgeous place! We stayed on the mainland for 5 days, then flew over to San Pedro and stayed there for a couple more days... make sure to explore the jungle with the mayan ruins! Lamanai was great! We also went cave tubing, ziplining and snorkeling with nurse sharks and sting rays... it was an incredible experience! The people were friendly, the dollar was still worth something there (Rate: 2:1)... i experienced bugs, but mostly in the jungle... make sure to bring bug spray when you go to the jungle, but other than that I didnt had any issue... wish i could go back there!
