So my fiance and i have narrowed it down to Belize ( thank you to the people who helped with advise!)
And we have narrowed it down to 2 hotels - The Victoria House in Ambergris Caye and The Turtle Inn in Placencia. Now I know Belize isnt a big place but which location would be the most centrally located? We want to be by the beach ( which both are) but want to make sure we are able to see the culture and not just go on the tours ( which we will be doing a few of) If you have ever been to Belize any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!!

The beaches in Placencia are MUCH nicer. It's also quieter, less touristy. Ambergris is much closer the reef (you can still access it from Placencia but the best reef action is Ambergris). I honestly was not that fond of Ambergris, but we went there after staying in the Cayo for 5 days which was perfection.
Ambergris has more organized tours to the mainland, you can still access most places from Placencia but I think they are more expensive, or you need to rent a car and drive yourself.
I personally would prefer Placencia.

We stayed at Captain Morgan's on the north side. We went back to the mainland once for ziplining and the caves. We got a water taxi pass to go into town when we wanted. If you do decide to go to Ambergris Caye, check out Fido's and The Palapa Bar. It is built over the water and the owners are awesome.
