honeymoon gift registry

Hi all you SD Brides!!!

I really need help as my and my fiance' really want to register to have guests help us pay for our honeymoon as we already live together and have most of the items we need/want. I wanted to see if anyone else has done this or known of someone and can give me tips and tricks or your experiences. This would be SUPER helpful!

Thank you so much in advance!

Re: honeymoon gift registry

  • Just so you know, this is an international board. You can find the San Diego board by clicking on Local Boards (link on the left side of the screen).
  • And you'll find a lot of brides on here aren't huge fans of a honeymoon registry.  It forces your guests to purchase something they might not want to purchase for you.  Also, most places take a fee out of what your guests purchase...just something to think about.
  • This questions gets asked a lot on this board and is a very touchy subject. There are numerous posts below and on subsequent pages on this board that you can read.

Personally, I am not a fan of HM registries for the reasons given above. They are deceitful to your guests and you do not get the full amount gifted. Asking for money is never approrpriate even when you try to disguise it as a HM registry.

Suggest doing a small registry of upgrades for people who want to to give boxed gift. Others will give cash gifts without having to be asked for it You could also spread via word of mouth thru wedding party or parents that you are registered at store A but also saving for a HM. People will get the hint.
  • We're taking a Disney cruise for our honeymoon so we signed up for Disney's Honeymoon Registry. I'm loving it so far! They sent us a giftcard where all the money contributed will go.
No fees or anything and you can use it wherever and whenever you want.

Sorry I don't know of any other honeymoon registries Embarassed
  • Thanks ladies!  I think we are going to do Honeyfund. Several people on both sides of the family have done or known friends who used the HM registry (I found out after asking at a family reunion Sunday). Since we already have all the kitchen/bedroom/house stuff we need it just makes sense, Honeyfund doesn't charge fees so its perfect!

Thank you for taking time to give feedback and good luck with your wedding! =)
