Addressing Invites

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I didn't see the answer on the FAQ's.  If I'm inviting people with a guest, do I put "and guest" on the outer envelope or just the inner envelope?  Thanks in advance!

Re: Addressing Invites

  • You should try to find out the name of their guest and include it on the envelope if you can. We didn't put "and guest" on the outer envelope. We didn't have inner envelopes, so we wrote in the names of the people invited on the response card, and that's where we put "and guest" if we didn't know who they were bringing or if they were even bringing a guest.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • If you cannot find out the names of the guest, and guest would only go on the inner envelope.
  • You really should get the name of whomever the invited-by-name guest is planning to bring and use both names on the inner envelope.  If you aren't able to do that, I'd list the named guest on the outer envelope and "Mr. John Smith and Guest" on the inner envelope.
