Just Engaged and Proposals

Funny engagement stories here...

Planning a wedding can be a stressful process, but a lot of amusing things happen along the way. It's good to laugh through it all. Here's mine. What's yours?

After my fiance proposed we had to go for the ring appraisal. The jeweler was explaining the insurance process and going over the scenarios in which we would be covered. He said things like if I got mugged and someone took my ring, or if I was in a car accident and the stone popped out... Then I noticed that every hypothetical situation he described ended with me in bodily harm. Nothing as simple as losing the ring or it accidentally going down a drain would do. But I'm really glad to know if I lost my hand my ring would be replaced. Lol!

Btw, I'm now deathly afraid of all the drains in the house...

  • Insurance companies always seem to cover everything except the one thing that actually happens.

It sounds like he was playing "worst case scenario"!  I don't know where I first heard about it, but if you are stressed about something, you have to make up the most outlandish story ever and it has to result in bodily harm or death.  The point is to show how unlikely these incidences would be and therefore calm you down.  I don't think it works with insurance people . . .

I guess my most amusing incident is still my proposal.  My FI wanted until dark, so I couldn't really see what was going on.  It was a complicated proposal that involved a ring wraith, and in the dark I mistook it as Death.  Come on - a guy in a tattered black cloak?  I may be a LOTR fan, but a black hooded figure in the dark makes me think of the figure of death automatically.
