Just Engaged and Proposals

Newly engaged!

I got engaged in September '12 at Disney. My fianc and his friend actually proposed at the same time in front of the big castle at magic kingdom. We are young and plan on waiting at least until April 2014 to get married. I'm writing all of this because I have no clue what to do! I don't know the process of preparing for a wedding and if I even want to have a wedding. With all of the questions I get when, where,am I invited, etc I'm looking more into eloping at this point! I'm basically just looking for advice and maybe lists of what to do and when to start. Thanks!!!

Congratulations and welcome to the board!

To start the whole planning process you should sit down with your FI and figure out what type of wedding you want: large event, small an intimate, destination, etc. From there you should figure out your budget and start a preliminary guestlist.

If you're thinking of April 2014 you should check out the wedding month board (link on the left) I'm getting married in April 2014 as well and there are a bunch of ladies who frequent the board and would be hapy to help out!

    Congrats and happy planning!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    Congrats!

Breath and enjoy the excitement of beign engaged. When you get presented with wedding questions just tell people that you have picked a date, you're just enjoying being engaged for a while.

I agree, you and FI need to sit down and over time figure out what kind of wedding you want. Then the next big step is figuring out your budget because that determines everything in regards to how big of an event it turns into. Nothing wrong if you can't decide to price out different ideas and compare the cost & amount of work it will take to see which one works best for you.

    Good luck & happy planning!

FYI....best line I learned when people said "You should do this or that or go here" my response, was "Thank you for the information, we'll take it into consideration" they are happy because you are listening, but that doesn't mean you have to do it.
