We are getting married in Oct 2012, we found a great venue. Just a small remodeled hall in harvest tones which is our wedding theme. We are planning on getting married on thier large deck but the only problem is that the spot where we picked to place the altar/have the ceremony has the background of a street and some houses. Not a pretty sight.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to block this or what would be a good way to obstruct the view so not eveyone is getting a free show when we are saying our vows.

We considered having the actual ceremony somewhere else but because of our budget it is actually easier to do it at our reception venue. We also tried moving the spot around but we either face the street or an alley. Neither choice is the best.

Help?

Could you possibly face the other direction? Like back towards the awesome building and away from the stret?

If we face the other way we are facing the back of a building and the parking lot, turn in the other direction and we face the alley and block the stairs where I am making my entrance at. Its a hard situation. I was considering maybe renting an awning or tent and having the altar there so we are blocked from view but the guests arent?

The alley sounds better than the parking lot. How about decorating some really nice arch?

I am making a couple of portable ribbon walls with a painted center panel for our outdoor wedding. We needed to hide an ugly part of the fence and screen of part of the parking lot. Frames are made of pvc pipes and are abot 6 ft tall. You might be able to use something like that as a screen or backdrop

I like the idea of pretty changing screens. Are there any tree rental places in your area? Maybe you can rent three or four and place them behind your altar? (Is altar the right word? The place where you stand and get married, lol)

Our local nursery will rent trees and bushes for events. Maybe you can check with the nursery closest to your location?
