Affordable wedding, but unique?

I found a location we can afford, but it's not really us. It's a nice hotel in Evanston. We have a lot of out of town guests (only 10 people in town!) and we need to have a hotel close to the ceremony/reception site (preferably the same site). Hotels in Chicago are outrageous and a hotel wedding isn't really us. We're more laid back, but I still want something special. Our entire budget is about $23,000. Any suggestions on locations that are reasonable? Thanks!

  • You should post this on the Chicago board. There won't be much help here!

  • Jamie, this board is international, so people can't really help with specific questions like this one. (I'm in NJ and don't know anything about the Chicago area) You might get specific advice on a local Chicago area board. Go up to the drop down above, and use the link to local boards. GL
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • hey jamie!!!  I actually found a gREAT place - a little ways from evanston but it may be worth to take a look.  We booked at the Arboretum Club in Buffalo Grove.  We also found really cheap rates at the hotels nearby for oernight guests.  Our budget is $15,000 so I totally understand!!!  We are having our reception and ceremony there for $8500!!!!  Our block of rooms is at the Hilton Suites - $69 a night for a king or double suite!!  You can email me for some more details valemmahernandez@gmail.com  I would be happy to send them over your way!PS the place is gorgeous!
  • Before we decided on a DW, we had seriously considered the Brookfield Zoo.  Sounds odd, and I'll admit that my family was against it, but I LOVED the idea of cocktail hour with the animals!  Their prices aren't bad and you could easily do a wedding for 150 with your budget.  They do ceremonies there as well.  Call Kathy Seybold at the Zoo - she'll take great care of you!
