Balloon wall, perhaps?

Hi all! I need your opinions on a thought for a second or two. In our venue, when you first walk in the door, there is this room. A good sized UGLY room that you just kind of walk past (the room is on the right of the doorway, kitchen on the left, hallway in the middle of the two) to get to the next doorway/room. (We live in a small town, so you can't expect a fancy smanshy building.) Anywho, for past receptions, people just ignore the room and walk right past it to the next door where the actual reception is held. I have never seen it decorated either. So, I had a thought about doing a 'balloon wall' type thing. I saw it on Pinterst. Where ya just kind of hang balloons at different levels so they create a wall.

My question is: do the balloon thing or just leave it be like everyone else has done in the past?

Thank you for any input!

Re: Balloon wall, perhaps?

  • We had an ugly wall.  Our florist said decorating it actually brings more attention. Remember she makes money from me if I decorate.     Add it I'm not a fan of balloons, let alone a wall full of them I say save your money for something the guest will actually enjoy.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Another vote here for draping, not balloons.  Or just leave it alone, because having something there will probably draw more attention to it.

I'm thinking you may be right with just leaving it alone. People will most likely be expecting it to not be decorated like usual and then to have BAM! Could go bad..

As far as a drape, I don't think it'd look as good. My ideas was to have the guest book indented into the wall of balloons so it wouldn't be just a flat wall of balloons. It's probably best to just stick with tradition, like I said.

    Thanks for your input, everybody!
  • No balloons.  Ignore it.  Besides, who is going to decorate it the day of your wedding?  You have enough on your plate.
