candles on the table?

Hi everyone! I am having a winter wedding this Feb. I have very simple centerpieces. (6 roses in a vase) I want to dress up the table with 6 votive candles around the vase on each table. I think it will be a nice romantic touch since it's going to be freezing outside. I just need an opinion on the colors. I wanted a dark red votive on the table but I was going to have ivory roses as the centerpiece. Do you think the colors should match? Ivory rose/frosty white votive or red rose/red votive? I think it's fine to mix it up but my sisters are telling me it should match. What do you think?

    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    I like the idea of them not matching, assuming you are using those colors elsewhere in your wedding. Or maybe you could do alternating votive colors or alternating rose colors. Or then there's the option of red roses and ivory votives... You have lots of options, all which I think will be great!

    I think the red and ivory will be pretty. Thats almost exactly what Im doing except opposite. I am having red rose centerpieces and ivory candles around them.

    I think it will look really nice to have the white roses with the red candles.  It will make the tables look a bit more interesting.

    Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    Oh that sounds pretty. I'm getting married in December and having some of the same colors. Just curious, have you bought the red votive candle holders yet? If not, I just got a dark red, tea light candle, glass holder, not really sure how to explain it, but they are at Crate and Barrel for .95 each. I ended up getting 22 for $23.00. It was a great deal I thought and just wanted to pass it on to you. I think they also had votive ones that were a bit more expensive.

    I saw red votive holders, $2.99 for 12, at IKEA on Saturday. If you are near one, they have their Chritsmas stuff out and its CHEAP.

    Thanks guys! I actually found a website www.candles4less.com. You can purchase 72 votive holders with 72 votive candles for $36.99!!!! I don't need that many though!!! So maybe i'll check out those stores! :)
