So i'm thinking of doing a dinner buffet for my wedding but now i'm trying to figure out what i should use. Its somewhat a formal wedding and how would it work? i want to use real dishes but who would do the dish washing because i sure know i don't want to do it or do you think that the reception hall would have workers that would be able to do that maybe i would have to pay extra??? or what i was thinking was having a plastic dish bin where people could put their plates when they are done but i also don't want it to be tacky.... if anybody has advice i would really like your input thx!! :)

Most venues should offer real plates and the staff will clear them away.

Talk to your venue and your caterer.  If it's a somewhat formal wedding, I would expect real plates that waitstaff would clear when people were finished eating.

Definitely talk with your venue. Since our venue was also the caterer it worked out perfectly. The clean up charge (including dishes) were included in my fee breakdown.

Talk to your venue - our wedding is pretty formal I would say, but we did not want a sitdown dinner so we are having buffet stations.  There will be all real dishes and there are still servers there to clear tables.

Just an FYI, I'm getting married in my fiances SMALL town with only 1 venue (so not an option to change) and the caterer is from another small town (the only caterer for miles around) and they DO NOT  offer china. (I'm having a fairly formal wedding also.)  I worked in the catering business for years, so this is killing me, but sometimes there is no other options.  Make the best of it... hopefully china is not the most important thing of the day!
