Frantic Bride

I need some words of encouragement, my venue for the reception seemed to be too perfect to be true and it was. They offered us an amazing price for food and unlimited alcohol all night and then later on acted like they never gave us that price and had no idea what we were talking about and every time I would email the hotel wedding coordinater she would take 2-4 weeks to email me back, ignoring my phone calls. Finally yesterday after her changing the price on us for the 4th time my fiance told me to email her back and tell her we were done with them and we were finding somewhere else. So, now here I sit 6 months from my wedding with to reception hall.

Re: Frantic Bride

  • It changed by over 20 dollars, the price she had quoted us with originally was supposedly for everything included set up tear down, linens, food, alcohol etc.
  • Everytime I would email her to send me a contract she wouldnt, and she sent me two wrong proposals for other people's events and acted like she didnt know she did it.
  • I like PP suggestions, check out your local board for suggestions of venues & start calling around ASAP. I'm sure this will work out for the best in the end. If they are already this bad, I can only imagine the headaches you would have on your wedding day worrying that they would do things correctly.

    Good luck!!

  • I'm a Lansing MOB and would love to know which venue.

you're lucky you were so persistant. imagine what a disaster the day would've been if you only found out a MONTH before.

  • Words of encouragement: this venue sounds super-flaky and disreputable, and it sounds like you're well rid of them.  You'll be just fine finding a new venue, and it sounds like almost anything would be more professional than the last one.  Good luck!
  • You should consider also contacting the BBB to report them.

    Good luck!
  • Yikes. 20 dollars is definitely a huge difference.

You can do this. I got engaged in July and had my wedding in the following May which is one of the most popular months of the year for weddings in New Orleans.  It was a breeze planning in 9 months and I am sure you'll be able to find plenty of options in time.

    Good luck.

You might have better availability w/ the more popular venues if you're willing to do an off-day like Friday or Sunday.  If your other vendors and your VIPs are able to switch, that might make it a bit easier to get a replacement venue/caterer on shorter notice.
