I'm having a sunday wedding, the ceremony and the reception are in the same place,We are having just a cake and toast reception, the ceremony starts at 1:30, the reception at 2:00. I have got a dj, The reception will only be from 2-5 pm. Between doing the cake, toast, first dance, garter toss, should i have dancing??? I really want a casual wedding, not a party. But i also think it would be nice for people to be able to dance, do u think it ok to just play love songs, and just have guest slow dance, if they like. Or just use the dj for background music?

If you don't want a club like party then just let the DJ know.  He/She is professional and will play the music that you want.  I think it would be nice to have some love/slow songs so some people can dance to.  If you don't want any up-beat just let the DJ know that if anybody requests it he/she is going to have to politely let them know "no."

Ditto Tiffanie.  Just explain to your DJ the type of party you have in mind and they'll be able to handle it.  FWIW, my FI and I are also trying to avoid a "club" atmosphere, so our DJ is going to stick to oldies (40s/50s/60s, Sinatra/big band/etc.) - guests who want to dance can dance to that, but it's not the same atmosphere as you would get playing Jay Z and the Black-Eyed Peas, KWIM?
