Signature Cocktails?

Are you doing a signature cocktail? What are you doing? Is it in your colors? Just something you like?

I am at a loss for what I would do for mine. I love captain and cokes... but that seems boring! But hey that is what I love!

We have three. We went back and forth for a while, but ended up with three signature martinis. One is a "French Martini" which goes with our theme. One is a pumpkin spice martini for the season that we named "The October 2nd" and the last one is a pear martini which we called "The Perfect Pair" cause we're gross like that.

I should mention FI does not drink, so he can not help me with this. Lucky me though to be marrying my designated driver.

I guess neither of you are irish to do something for st patty's day? Where is your FI from again? Could you do a traditional drink from there?

You also don't NEED signature drinks. :-)

I am Irish So I could do an Irish drink... but FI is from Slovakia... but lots of the liquor is not available here. I also do not know what kinds of mixed drinks they do there. I know there are shots they do, but I can not bring that into the country club....

I know I don't need them, I just like the idea of a signature cocktail haha. Also I will do anything for a picture. I want the cute little sign on the bar.

We are having a Signature Drink Menu for people to order from - of about 5-6 drinks, I forget. We are having two butlered, which are both my favorite martinis:

1 - Buzz Aldrin from Continental
2 - The Squeeze, which is a blood orange martini

You definitely don't need to do one, but some people may want one or two during your cocktail hour if they can't think of a martini off the top of their heads. Sometimes it's hard to think of what you want to drink - or you just go with wine since it's being butlered.

That orange one sounds yummy! I could call it The Main Squeeze hehe. I am sure I don't have anything butlered besides the hoursderves. Totally can't spell that word.

This might be easier to think of something AFTER FI picks our HM destination....

Ooh I like the signature drink menu. Will your reception venue do the signature drinks for free or is it an extra fee? At one place we looked at it was $200 for signature drinks to be offered to guests. I'm not sure if that's because they are butlered around?

Anyway, if I was just going with one drink I would go with a martini in a color to match the decor, if you can find one.

My venue just will have them available at the bar. All I need to do is make the sign.

Well my colors are blue and purple... kinda hard to make drinks those colors. Ah. I have 6 whole months to think LOL

Oh and there is no extra fee. Maybe if they had to get special liquor they would charge more... I am getting married at Spring Mill CC.

Ooh. I did a google search and it looks like there are a few purple and blue drinks. They look really cool too! Very bright.

Rachel - We have a venue where we provide our own alcohol, so we just purchased all of the necessary ingredients and mixers to make the drinks, so we could do as many as we wanted... which is why we took advantage and are doing 6!

There are actually a few very cool blue drinks out there.

Ours were:
- Peach Bellini (had real peach chunks in it, was delicious!)

- Key Lime Pie Martini w/ graham cracker crust rim (I did this because our colors were B&W w green.. so this was my green drink)

- Pineapple Martini (Ben loves pineapple)

hmm FI loves watermelon, so do I, I could ask the venue about doing a watermelon martini.

Not sure if it counts as a "signature cocktail", but we are doing Pimm's Cup. A: because it's super yummy and B: because we were both involved in rowing in college and it is the traditional drink at the Henley Royal Regatta in England that we both got a chance to compete at.

Let me know if you come up with something fun and purple! My colors are purple and silver (silver drink? scary). We get 3 signature martinis/drinks that are put out on display. I haven't really thought about them yet, but it would probably be cool to have a purple drink.

eve - i can't think of any purple cocktails at the moment... but if you think of one and then incorporate a sugar rim the drink might actually look purple with a silver rim... (because i agree that a silver cocktail would be kind of scary)

Here's a fun purple one I found on google. It's called the "Purple Hooter". Love the name, haha! But it sounds tasty...

Add a squeeze of lemon, a dash of Extra Dry Vermouth, 1 splash of both Raspberry Liquor and Sweet and Sour mix to three parts vodka in a cocktail shaker filled with cracked ice. After shaking, be sure to pour it through a strainer into a well chilled and sugar rimmed martini glass.

bridetobe my colors were navy and white and I did a blue cocktail that I just sort of made up. It was really good and a definitely a crowd pleaser. We named it after our "celebrity name" Vincent + Jessica = Vinnica. Here's a pic with the sign:

I feel your pain, I also need an idea for mine... My colors are Purple and Ivory with Yellow as the accent color. Not to sure i can get a purple drink so was thinking something mixed with Pineapple

I don't understand the point of signature drinks. I think you get to a point where you have overstylized a wedding.

There were no JEGshattens or Amertini's served at our wedding. I just hooked up an IV of champagne.
