I'm just wondering, is it normal to do a slideshow of old pictures of the bride and groom from like their childhood and then dating life together? Instead of doing a slideshow I was thinking of just having some framed pictures around at the reception of cute pictures, maybe from when we were little and from dating and engagement. But I keep thinking that childhood pictures are more for graduation open houses than a wedding...just looking for some opinions on this! thanks

DH and I did a little slideshow of us throughout our 10 years of dating on a digital picture frame.  It was at the guest book table.

If you want the pictures I would but them around the reception area or fix them to a board and display it on an easel. But it seems like something you don't really want, so skip it. It is not something that needs to be done.

I think jagore08's idea is good. Maybe put some old pictures of you guys around the guestbook table? I don't know if this is what you were considering but if you're thinking about maybe doing a whole slideshow as a "event" kind of thing, I wouldn't. I went to a wedding where the bride and groom actually had a screen where we could watch their pictures on a slideshow and it was so boring. =/

Video slide shows are cute, as long as they're SHORT. The last wedding I was at had a 10 minute long slide show! I was bored out of my mind!

Exactly, as long as it's short. It's usually pretty cute to see pics, especially when you only know one of them. I've been to weddings with & without. I'm not doing one, but I suppose that if I had the extra time & the ability to, I probably would.

I, on the other hand, can. not. STAND video slideshows at a wedding, so I'll agree that short is good!

Thanks for all the input, I appreciate it. I think I might just set up a few pictures around the guest table. I mainly wanted to put pictures of my Grandmas there too because they both passed away this year and I want them to somehow be there

i think it's pretty common for a Brideand Groom to have a slideshow or photos of themselves growing up.  The choice is yours really on whether you wnat to do this and if so in what format.

I bought some old shutters and we're going to affix just a few photos of us as kids with clothespins I'm going to paint -- we'll put it at the guest book table and it should be shabby chic, not obnoxious and hopefully cute.

My cousin did the slideshow at his wedding and I loved it. It gave us something to do while we were waiting for them to return from pictures and it was a great conversation starter. There was a pic of me and him on a four wheeler at age 14 that I didn't even remember so it was fun.
