  I think the biggest thing was to find out exactly what's included in the "flat" price of their packaging. There's quite a few venues that give you a flat rate, but then have hidden fees for stuff like chair covers and (I sadly found a few places that did this) "flatware rental" (Because, you know, people go to weddings and wouldn't think of using forks).
  
  Most places will give you a "hard copy" of what their packages include, and they will go over everything with you at the end of the tour. I would just make sure if it's a place you find yourself really liking, to scrutinize the crap out of that piece of paper to make sure you fully understand what they're giving you.
  
  Also, most places that let you have the ceremony on site charge you a seperate fee just for using the ceremony site. Most of the places I either went to or contacted wanted $500 for this (Including the venue we wound up using), but there were a few that wanted $750 and one or two that wanted even more than that. So definitely ask what they're charging.
  
  I must sound like I got raked over the coals, lol, it was actually the exact opposite. I found a venue that said they provided pretty much everything, and after going over everything very thoroughly, we wound up using them, and our day was fabulous. But DH and I are very "paranoid" about getting scammed, so we proceeded with caution at every place we checked.
