Wedding party introductions: fun or lame?

I'm stuck on whether to do wedding party introductions at the beginning of the reception...I've always thought they were a little dumb, and as a bridesmaid I've found them somewhat uncomfortable. I don't even know if I want me and FH to be introduced. I just don't really understand the point of introductions...my DJ's insisting they'd be fun though.

What are your thoughts? Are you doing them? Not doing them?

If I don't already know the MOH is Jill, your college roommate, I could care less because I'll never see her again. It's redundant if the couple has a program. Just get the party started.

    I never thought about skipping intros, but this PP says it best. We're doing programs, so it is pretty redundant.

    [QUOTE]You don't have to do it if you don't want to it. I've never been to a wedding where the whole wedding party wasn't introduced though.  But maybe thats just something thats more common in my area.  Who knows haha.  I dont think there is a problem with not doing it though.

    That's so true... I'm on LI and every wedding I've been did the intros. I think they are fun.

    [QUOTE]I vote lame.  We let our wedding party enjoy the cocktail hour and then only we were introduced.  I had never even heard of this until I came on TK. You can always list the wedding party in the program.
