Hi ladies
FI and I are searching for a nice dinnerware set to put on our registry (Macy's and PB). We aren't really fine china people, but want something white which would be durable and then we could mix and match serving pieces.
Any ideas? I love the PB Gabriella dinnerware, but heard it scratches easliy.

How about Corelle? They are made to last. You can drop it and it wont chip or break

I think Corelle seems cheap.
I've registered for Pfaltzgraff. Seems to be nice quality and there are different styles I can mix and match together.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

I have Martha Stewart dinnerware as my casual dinnerware at home. Just plain white in an octogon shape. It's really interesting looking but simple and easy to mix and match with the fine china we registered for. It is very durable and looks great. Also not super expensive! Hope this helps :)

If you like gabriella, look into crate & barrel's staccatto line. I know it's not Macy's or PB but three registries is fine (and CB has some amaaaazing things at really good prices). The staccatto line is porcelain, so it won't chip as easily as gabriella.

I love my Fiestaware. You can get it in fun colors like lime and peacock and in basics like chocholoate and ivory. It is fun to mix and match and has lots of coordinating serving pieces.

I'll second the fiestaware. I think it's timeless and you can get many different colors to mix and match.

Fiestaware is the best! My mom bought a set of the red when she moved and loves it and then my sister got the peacock on her registry for her wedding last year. I am registered for the Cobalt and I can't wait until the pieces come in. Dishwasher safe but classic and has everything you could want made in your color!

I would reccommend corelle. im not sure why PP said it 'seems cheap' other than its a lightweight set because of the material it's made from. it's extremely durable. grandma, mom, and FMIL have had their sets for YEARS. they also have a good open stock selection to mix/match pieces.
FI and I sadly aren't going with them because we don't like the patterns (which is slightly nuts since they have so many), and we don't want to settle on plain white dishware.
Fiestaware has a good mix/match option, but i've heard it chips easily and may not last long (though my interpretation of 'last long' = corelle which has easily surpassed 25+ years)
FI and I went with Mikasa solely based on the pattern we found, and the decent name. we also liked that it was a set that was informal enough for everyday use, but could be dressed up with a nice tablecloth, napkins and fancy serveware. they also have a good selection of patterns.

I also have never seen Corelle as cheap. Many members of my family have used it for years and years, and I have been using the same set all of my adult life. Actually, when I moved away to college, my mom gave me some of her Corelle that she'd had for as long as I could remember until I bought my own set. It's lightweight, but it holds up extremely well. And I have gotten something for everyday use that's basic so that I can add to it when I want and don't have to worry about my style being discontinued.
